Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

With the heaviest of hearts, I share the passing of my beloved father, Sultan Abdullahi Moalim, who left this world on Friday afternoon in London. He was not only my father, but also my best friend and mentor—a guiding light whose wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support shaped every aspect of my life.

He was laid to rest on Sunday afternoon at the Gardens of Peace Muslim Cemetery, surrounded by family, friends, and those whose lives he touched. We pray that Allah (SWT) grants him the highest place in Jannah, forgives his shortcomings, and envelops him in eternal mercy.

I am deeply grateful for the outpouring of sympathy and support from my friends and colleagues during this difficult time. Your heartfelt condolences, prayers, and comforting words have been a great source of strength for my family and me. May Allah reward you all for your kindness and grant my father the highest place in Jannah. Ameen.

It was an honour to contribute to Panel Two on Day Two of the #CivilSocietySummit2025, where we discussed "CSOs’ Contribution to Development and Alignment with the National Transformation Plan (NTP)."

I addressed the fact that Somalia’s Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) face several structural and policy barriers that limit their ability to influence national development planning effectively and to play a strong role in the humanitarian-development-peace (HDP) nexus, including but not limited to lack of inclusivity, restricted access to decision-making spaces, and limited legal and regulatory frameworks.
