Bolt and inDrive prices are about to shoot up. Commercial buses too will exploit the situation. By December, everybody will start doing offline ride sharing on Bolt and inDrive; you leave an event with one or two strangers going your way and split the bill. Scarcity sets in. In fact, might get to a point in December, rides will be so unavailable everybody will stand on the road to flag down random bolt or inDrive cars and rush in like danfo. Criminals will capitalize on the situation. Ghetto conundrum.
Celebrating My Eldest Brother at 75
Today, 30th August 2026, I celebrate my eldest brother, Dominic Ositadimma Obi, who turns 75. I celebrate him not merely because he is my elder brother or because of his age, but because he is an exemplary human being.
When I was Governor of Anambra State for eight years, he never came to my office or the Governor’s Lodge for a day seeking favours, as many might have expected. He is a planner and contractor who builds homes for people, yet not once did he ask me for a government contract.
Whenever we met, he would warmly embrace me and tell me that he was fine. He would then solemnly remind me to keep doing what I promised the people and never bring a bad name to the family and my community. He would tell me that whatever difficulties he was going through, many others were worse off, and that I should do my best for society.
I later came to understand that this was not peculiar to him alone. My family members had actually held a meeting and resolved that none of them would take advantage of my position as Governor. They decided that whatever good name I was building for the Obi family and Agulu must be protected. The same principle extended to my children.
Today, at 75, my beloved brother remains deeply concerned about Nigeria. Whenever we speak, he is full of prayers and good wishes. He constantly reminds me that if I have the opportunity to serve Nigeria, I should do so with honesty, integrity, and the interest of the people at heart.
Brother Dom, I thank God for the gift of your life and for the example you have set for our family. Your integrity, humility, contentment, and sense of responsibility are qualities worthy of celebration.
May God Almighty, who has graciously been with you all these years, grant you good health, His abundant grace, and blessings.
Happy 75th birthday, my dearest brother. -PO
These people want a “performance” not real impact and change. So they disregard all the work or the giving or the empathy that someone has shown just so they can find something to nitpick.
And that is one of my many issues with activism fuelled by outrage culture. It’s all bullshit virtue signalling where the aim isn’t to make a better world but to virtue signal and have a silly superiority complex over what causes one cares about or supports. Always looking for an opportunity to play “my politics are better than yours even though I haven’t contributed much to making the lives of others better”.
stupid ass fucking country run by stupid ass fucking people because of stupid ass fucking people who voted for the stupid ass motherfuckers oh my god get me the fuck OUT OF HERE
Let me say this.. There is NO DISCRETION in abiding with Policy and Law.
If the policy states "Call people by their first name" you have to abide.
Any policy that require you to use your discretion is a joke and not a policy ☹️
‘We respect and value elders here.’
That’s why you don’t pay them pension or gratuities under they pass away fighting for it. No elder social care policy in whole of the nation. Just ‘ma and sir’.
E ma lo wa ibi joko si.
This Elumelu issue aside, Making first name basis part of your company policy and then acting weird when employees actually call you by your first name is nothing but alabosi behaviour. Why do we love this kind of pretence so much? If you expect people to maintain a certain level of formality or discretion because of hierarchy, then just say so. Take the first name basis nonsense out of the policy instead of creating an expectation and then getting offended when people follow it.
First culture shock for me was when people were reacting with 👎 in a virtual meeting while the CEO was talking.
Less than 1 year later, I also became bold enough to make my opinions public.
I remember my manager was saying something in a meeting and asked, "Does this make sense?". I did not hesitate to say no and go on to explain why I think there is a better approach.
There was no negative consequence for this at all.
In fact, they encourage this type of behaviour because it leads to meaningful debates and better decisions.
Nigerians take 'respect' to a whole new level, that’s why the president of a country with over 200 million people will say rubbish and people around him will start clapping. They even gave him a standing ovation when he said, "No matter how short you are, you get out, you will see the sky" 😭
Person go chop allocation meant for your hospitals, roads, water works, schools…. You go see the person for community still they call them ‘your excellency’ and be groveling like a puppet that you are, all in the name of cultural respect….
You need to respect yourself first!
Last take on this matter, we should stop westernizing our work policies since we love our culture so much. Drop the hypocrisy and just allow the “respect”
I don’t even know why anyone choosing to support Tinubu should annoy us anymore, the concentration of fools in the country is something we have to unfortunately live with.
