60 years ago, a group of brave civil rights organizers marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama in the pursuit of justice and equality. Today we’re reminded of their courageous sacrifices, and tasked with the responsibility of doing what we can to carry forward their work.

From our earliest days, Black history has always been American history – and Black folks have profoundly shaped our American culture through music, art, literature, sports, and beyond. One month a year is not sufficient to celebrate the power of the movements and the people who have fought for the rights we enjoy today. That’s something that we have to do each and every day, as we strive to live up to their example and make sure our children and grandchildren remember their stories.

#STEAMing4Excellence. Our scholars completed a mini unit on rainbows by studying them in nature, creating them using right trianguar prisms and lasers, and recording the results. The unit was followed up with them drafting a broadcast and becoming meteorologist. @R_B_HUDSON
