The UK borrowed another £1.8bn last month, taking the national debt to within a whisker to £2.985tn in July. I thought it would pass £3 trillion this summer. That will now happen in the autumn.
The main drivers of more borrowing were welfare and pension payments, which rose 7.2% (£2bn) to £30bn last month.
The cost of debt service, at £7.7bn in July, was almost 10% higher than a year ago.
Four months into the 2026/27 financial year and the government has borrowed almost £57bn, a bit more than the official forecast YTD.
July’s figures yet another reason to brace for hefty tax rises in the October Budget.
Sky News asked Angela Rayner why it’s okay for her to earn from speaking engagements whilst condemning opponents for having a second job.
Paid speaking engagements are a second job. She wouldn’t accept this answer from an opponent, so we shouldn’t either.
The ONS published July's inflation figures this morning. We went through every division in the release.
Inflation is back up to 2.9%. But the number that explains it was set months ago, in a 12-week window most people have never heard of 🧵
Insane statistic.
There are now more than 1 MILLION young British 16-24 year olds who are not working, in education, or training.
Thrown on the scrap heap by politicians who prioritise mass migration and open borders.
Public sector employment has risen by around 42,000 since the start of 2026, compared with a fall of 110,000 in the private sector. Public sector pay growth far outstripping that in private sector. This is not healthy.
Look at this 👀 Once again, this is quite simply unsustainable…
ONS: Annual average regular earnings growth was 6.1% public sector vs 2.8% private sector (April–June 2026).
But the headline pay gap understates the true cost difference because of employer NI + (especially) pension contributions.
Take someone on £35,000 pre-rise:
Employer National Insurance (same for both)
15% above £5,000 secondary threshold = £4,500
(Source: HMRC rates 2026/27)
Employer pension contributions
• Public sector median: 26–27% (ONS ASHE 2024)
Major schemes: NHS 23.7%, Teachers ~28.6%, Civil Service ~27–28.7%
• Private sector median: 5–6% (ONS); statutory minimum often 3%
Pre-rise total employment cost (salary + NI + pension)
Public (26% pension): £35k + £4,500 + £9,100 = £48,600
Private (3% pension): £35k + £4,500 + £1,050 = £40,550
→ Public already costs the employer £8,050 more (~20% higher)
After the latest growth rates
Public salary → £37,135 (+6.1%)
Private salary → £35,980 (+2.8%)
Public total cost ≈ £51,610
Private total cost (3%) ≈ £41,706
→ Gap widens to almost £9,900 extra per public employee
Sources:
• ONS Average Weekly Earnings (Aug 2026 release) – 6.1% vs 2.8%
• ONS ASHE pensions tables 2024 – median employer contribution rates
• NHSBSA / Teachers’ Pensions / Civil Service valuations – scheme rates
• HMRC employer NI rates 2026/27 (15% above £5k)
The pay awards get the headlines. The structurally far higher public-sector pension costs are the bigger long-term fiscal issue.
Incredible work
Big Charity is mostly a scam. From six figure CEO salaries to just a small proportion of donations going to actual causes, then we have this kinda nonsense.
Why not spend £90m on British causes instead of fake refugees? It’s the NATIONAL LOTTERY after all.
A forgotten Premier League classic from this day in 1996.
Over to the Baseball Ground where @dcfcofficial and @LUFC shared the goals and a point each.

🚨 SAD: PENSION FIRM BLOCKS TERMINALLY ILL FALKLANDS VETERAN FROM HIS OWN 100,000 POUNDS!
Want to hear how disgusting this system is?
Andrew Rossiter is a Royal Navy Falklands War veteran who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and given just months to live.
A corporate pension firm is refusing to hand over his own 104,000 pounds retirement fund, making a dying hero jump through endless bureaucratic hoops!
As Andrew rightly said, it feels like they are dragging it out hoping he dies so they never have to pay out.
This brave veteran served his country, saved every penny, and now needs our help to get what he earned.
We need to make so much noise that EQ Retirement Solutions has zero choice but to pay him today!
RT and SHARE this everywhere to back this war hero and force them to give Andrew his money NOW! 🇬🇧🔥
In three weeks, tax becomes more than half of what a litre of petrol costs you
Right now you're paying 159.9p, and 79.6p of that goes to the government
Fuel duty takes 52.95p, then VAT adds 26.6p on top of everything including the duty, so you're taxed on the tax. That works out at 49.8%. Just under half
On 1 September the duty climbs a penny, which on today's prices tips it to 50.2%. Two more pennies in December, another two in March, and the government's share reaches 51.6%
Fill a 55 litre tank today and £43.78 of that £88 is tax. By March it's £47
That's the 5p cut from 2022 gone. From April 2027 it rises every year on its own
From September, you're buying tax with a bit of petrol attached.....
This is a male with a woman’s swim suit on. A very average male swimmer incapable of doing anything substantial on the national platform in men’s racing. Yet beat 3 USA Olympic female medalists! It is cheating the same way allowing a 15yr to race 10yr olds is. Its cult stupidity
A Pakistani politician has just been elected to office in Mirpur while on bail in Britain over allegations of child rape and trafficking in Manchester.
He has been on bail for two years. He failed to surrender as required and remains in Pakistan.
The Home Secretary has the power to intervene should she choose to do so. So why is she silent? And why is every other pro Kashmir politician silent too?

The stories that expose them are the stories they tried and failed to imprison me for sharing.
Eight years in and over 2,000 new sign ups to my newsletter in the last month alone. Even the mainstream media blacklist has failed to censor this campaign. Millions now know the truth of the grooming gangs, and who covered up what took place.
What comes next is the National Inquiry, and forcing it to go where it does not want to go. The only way to do that is pressure. We got it this far. Now help push it further, to a place where politicians are forced to testify. That includes the Prime Minister.
My name is Raja Miah. I led the campaign that helped force the National Inquiry. I need your help to make sure it is not a whitewash.
My ask of you is a simple one. Please follow my work on social media and take a minute to sign up to and subscribe to my newsletter Red Wall and the Rabble. Here is the link;

The mainstream media will not undertake this work. The political parties have proven they will not. It survives because ordinary people decide that the truth is worth supporting.
My work is unapologetically detailed. A single article can take days to finalise, I work seven days a week, and I have been at this for nearly eight years. Three of those years were spent on police bail after Oldham Council officials conspired with Andy Burnham's police force in an attempt to maliciously prosecute me for exposing the cover up of the grooming gangs in my hometown. They failed. The world now knows the truth.

Everything we have exposed has been 100% community funded. I now need your support to take on the Prime Minister. Without your help, this fight will end, and they will win.
If you believe in what we’ve achieved together, please subscribe to my newsletter, Red Wall and the Rabble. It starts from just 75p a week.

One thing @RupertLowe10 has never done is lie about another country having nuclear weapons when they didnt, murdered the expert that said there wasnt any and dress it up as suicide, and then send 140 British men to their deaths and murdered 600k Iraqi civilians.
..so theres that
