Mavs center Dereck Lively II is turning defense into impact through ‘Blocks for a Cause,’ a partnership with nonprofit Undue Medical Debt.
For every block he makes this season, Lively will donate $100, enough to erase at least $10,000 in medical debt for families in need across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Texas.
Inspired by his own family’s experiences with medical hardship, he aims to wipe out $5 million in debt by season’s end. The Dallas Mavericks have pledged $10,000 to support the effort, inviting fans to join the cause and multiply the impact.
With more than 100 million Americans burdened by medical debt, Lively’s initiative brings rare visibility to a nationwide crisis and proves that every block can change more than just a game.
Dereck Lively II will be donating $100 for each block he records this season to help people pay off their medical debts in PA, NC, & TX, per @EnjoyBBall
Each block will get rid of at least $10,000 of medical debt.
Seems like Brandon Williams (University of Arizona alum) lost a bet to Dereck Lively II (Duke University alum) 😂😂😂
Duke took down Arizona in the Sweet 16 just a few days ago.
