A total of 26 families from Sitio Kabilang Ilog in Barangay Capunitan, Orion, Bataan, were forced to leave their homes on Monday, August 12, due to demolition works, said Rappler Communities app user and environmental advocate Sophia Alday. Hope 🙏
“From a victim [of climate related flooding], to a survivor and organizer of communities” was how Derek, Lived Experience Advisor from the Philippines offered a message of hope that prompted a standing ovation. 💙

Reclamation of the fishing grounds in Bataan still continues. Where is the promised review of all the projects in Manila bay by the DENR? Apparently, appropriate action is still lacking if not wanting.
When experience and indigenous knowledge of community folks are considered and highlighted in climate action, reliable and practical measures would be expected.💚
At the time when our security of tenure & right to shelter are threatened by the impacts of climate crisis, the right to public and decent housing and social services should be demanded as an urgent climate action!
