I was just reading about this. To me, it makes matters considerably worse.
The issue is no longer simply whether the original red card was justified. It is whether FIFA has undermined the integrity of the World Cup, and its own authority as the global regulator of football, by appearing either to invent a procedure or, at the very least, to apply its rules in a wholly unprecedented way, against a backdrop of acknowledged political pressure, while refusing to give reasons and seemingly leaving the decision with no meaningful avenue of challenge.
As someone committed to sporting integrity, transparency, fairness and the rule of law in sport, if the reports of what has happened are accurate, I find this deeply troubling.
For years I have represented players and others facing lengthy bans for betting offences where there has been no suggestion whatsoever of match manipulation, because the governing bodies, including FIFA, have consistently argued that preserving confidence in the integrity of the sport requires robust and uncompromising enforcement.
If that is the standard expected of participants, the regulator itself must be held to at least the same standard. If the reports are accurate, this decision, and the consequences for FIFA, could prove to be truly seismic, eclipsing the controversy about the red card itself.

I’ve always never been able to decide which is Britain’s most beautiful bit: North Devon or the Yorkshire Dales. But I’ve just spent the last three days in the Scottish Borders and now I have an answer. God almighty, they’re beautiful. Also, I bought some cows there.
Craig Charles’ narration of “TOR!” the official film of Euro ‘88, was a joy to behold.
Especially when he used the proper Donegal pronunciation of Pat Bonner’s name…
While preparing for COLLATERAL, director Michael Mann had a hidden camera film Tom Cruise going undercover as a FedEx delivery driver for a day to see how well he could walk amongst people unnoticed, because that's exactly what Vincent is able to do in the film's story 🔥 love there's actual footage of this
Only 8 million people pay for the entire United Kingdom.
The UK has 70 million people. 40 million pay no tax at all. Of the 30 million who do, only 8 million pay more into the system than they take out. They are funding a government that keeps importing more people who take more out than they put in.
This is pure economic and civilizational suicide of the UK.
Bournemouth are in the Europa League this season and their stadium needs some upgrade.
Why is this upgrade needed?
To meet UEFA’s standards.
In terms of capacity, Bournemouth’s seating capacity is enough to meet UEFA’s highest standards. It’s a Category 4 stadium with 11,600 seats and it’s the smallest in the Premier League. UEFA’s minimum standards for a seating capacity is 8,000.
Bodo/Glimt played in the UCL last season with their stadium at 8k capacity.
But it’s not just the seating capacity that makes a stadium meet UEFA’s regulations. There are other boxes that must be ticked.
The pitch’s dimension must be 105x68m.
The benches of both teams must have 20 seats, and must be 4m away from touchline and there must be no obstructed view from the pitch.
For UEFA to approve your stadium, it must be able to provide for a stadium attendance that expects at least 80% males. There must be at least one seated toilet for 250 male spectators, and at least one urinal for 125 male spectators. The stadium must also be able to provide for an expected ratio of 25% attendance from females. That is, should 100 people attend the game, the stadium must provide for an expectation of 25 of them being females. In the home section, there must be at least one seated toilet per 120 female spectators and one per 80 female spectators in the away section.
UEFA has also made it compulsory to have turnstiles and electronic ticket systems. There must be at least one turnstile for every 660 spectators.
The stadium must have at least 100 VIP seats. The media tribune must take at least 60 people. Parking spaces for VIP and staff must be able to accommodate at least 150 people.
There must be two broadcast studio rooms in the stadium.
Luckily for Bournemouth, the Premier League has standards almost as high as UEFA’s and their expansion works won’t be much. They’re trying to add 800 seats to the stadium and that’s expected to take it to more than 12,000-seater.
There are also plans in place for a phased expansion to 20,000 but I guess that’ll be done gradually.
If Bournemouth had smaller than 8k capacity, they’d have been forced to play elsewhere.
On Father’s Day today, my thoughts are with the thousands and thousands of dads who are kept away from their children purely because of malicious lies and a family court system that discriminates against men based on outdated and false assumptions.
Years and years. Tens of thousands of pounds. Bankruptcy. Horrific mental health struggles.
British men are put through hell.
Of course there are bad fathers, as there as bad mothers, nobody is saying otherwise - but there is no doubt in my mind that the system actively works against dads.
For decades, the role of fathers has been downplayed and underestimated - that’s reflected in the rotten family courts.
Fathers wait months to get a hearing, false allegations mean the child is taken away from them entirely. All based on one person’s word, when clearly emotions are running high.
It costs a fortune. Many men have been bankrupted trying to seeing their children.
Some of the stories I have heard from affected men are nightmarish. It does affect mums too, although clearly not in the same numbers.
It is torture. No other word for it.
None of this is about downplaying the importance of mothers (obviously) and of course there are many men (as there are women) who should not be in their children’s lives. But it has clearly swung too far, and that needs to be reversed.
That is what a Restore Britain Government will do.
Give decent and honest fathers a fair chance to be in their children’s lives.
