I do the majority of the pre-mix though, and I work with my engineer to get the mix how I want it. So I definitely curate how I want it to sound, but as far as the technical/science side of it I leave that to the professionals
I dont mix and master, only thing I fully mixed myself was sunken city redux
I produced Big Head
the only song in my catalog I didn’t produce was LA Girl (and any song you hear me featured on from back when i did features)
We know you create your own beats, do you also mix and master them? Also the song "Big head" is that your production or is that the 2nd time you didn't have self produced beat?
@DerekPopeMusic
album name will be revealed soon
11 songs
tone is a bit of everything - For I Have Sinned, PHANTOM, a little Quiet Mind
but also nothing like anything I’ve put out at the same time
don’t like to keep talking about my health but my radioactive iodine treatment a few weeks ago for my thyroid has started to catch up to me, my body is feeling the fatigue and i feel like i could sleep for 100 hours
album is on the last mixes and still plugging along
you guys will hear new stuff soon i promise
just wanted to keep you guys updated if you don’t hear from me for a bit 🙏
🫶 love you all
@bielewski_luc finishing the album in the next 2 weeks -> mixing/mastering the album -> shooting content rollout -> first single drops -> new single every month -> album release
i just love albums, a cohesive body of work. when i create it’s nonstop for a period of time and then i take a break and usually i have enough songs for an album.
i’m going to be dropping singles and rollout for this next one though, not just the album dump and disappear like usual
@DerekPopeMusic question, why are you doing an album every year? Remember when you used to drop multiple singles then EP's like poltergeist, When the sky falls( idk y it falls under singles)?
it’s coming, got 9 new songs so far, all bangers. still getting mixed. still working on more songs. health is getting better so i’m finally back at it.
will be dropping the first single soon 🙏
i’m always experimenting with new sounds but the next album is mostly my trap-style beats
if PHANTOM was Miracle Mile 2 then __ ___ ____ is For I Have Sinned 2
@DerekPopeMusic please what are the background vocals in “wrong for me” saying? 😭 I keep looking it up but can’t find the lyrics for that specifically. I love it sooo much but feel like a dummy singing along to it bc I don’t 100% know what it says 😅
I do everything myself except the final mix I work with an engineer remotely
I track and pre-mix myself in my own studio, I prefer to work alone I think you get more raw/vulnerable takes that way and I’m not restricted by someone else’s schedule
Only project I ever did in an actual studio was Lord Forgive Me
I’ve tried going back to mixing myself several times (I originally was going to mix all of PHANTOM) but I’m way too neurotic to mix my albums solo, I would be on version 93 and the album would never come out
never finished them so probably won’t ever be released
usually I only scrap a song if it’s not going anywhere and/or I’m not feeling it anymore, I don’t think I’ve ever completely finished a song and then scrapped it
not sure when this next album will be out (2026 forsure tho) but I will be dropping snippets / singles a lot earlier than the full release this time
this has been the most amount of songs that i’ve started and then scrapped, rn only 6 songs have made the cut
this is the 5th time I’ve re-written this caption, because there’s simply no words that can express how grateful I am for all of you to allow me to do what I love for a living, to trust me with the freedom to create without pressure, to journey with me through emotions we only start to process when we hear them in music, to cry with me one song and feel invincible the next.
shit I guess there are words that can express it.
you all are the reason I’m still here, and I will give you everything I have until I have nothing left to give. I truly love what I do, and I will never take for granted how lucky I am to be able to do it.
the song that launched my career, “us and them”, starts with me singing “for you”, and it has never changed. it has always been, and will always be, for you.
