So grown adults, appointed to public office, will always find a way to connive with crooked student leaders to fleece young people. Always.

What exactly is this so-called capacity building levy being imposed on National Service Personnel? One hundred and eighty cedis per person, deducted at sixty cedis a month over three months. From people who are already among the most financially vulnerable in the public system. From allowances that are not even paid on time.

At conservative figures, one hundred and eighty cedis multiplied by eighty thousand personnel comes to nearly fourteen and a half million cedis. 14.5 million cedis.

And we are meant to believe this is genuinely about capacity building? That money has a destination, and everyone with common sense knows what that destination is: the pockets of corrupt NASPA leadership and whoever is enabling them from within the management of the National Service Authority.

Because make no mistake, NASPA did not conjure this scheme alone. No student body has the reach or the authority to institutionalise a deduction of this nature without backing from somewhere within NSA management.

Instead of fighting to improve the welfare and conditions of the young people they are supposed to represent and serve, these leaders have dedicated their ingenuity to stealing from them. It is unconscionable.

The powers that be must act immediately. Rein in management. Cancel this arrangement without delay. And refund every deduction already made. Every pesewa of it.

National Service allowance is 715.57 GHC, and the government still deducts without our knowledge for so-called subscriptions (imposed subscriptions). Last month it was 100 GHC for cloth and this month it’s 60 GHC for the so-called “NASPA CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM,” which we had zero knowledge of prior to the deduction. They do all this and still owe arrears for the previous month. These so-called subscriptions should be pre-informed and probably optional. Can someone explain what NASPA CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM is?
