The Derwent Hill Tutors taught the Venue team how to canoe and encouraged individuals who were not water confident to "have a go". Different rafting techniques were adopted and the team successfully completed a journey across Derwent Water. Big smiles and a sense of achievement
Great to have FCC Environment at Derwent HIll last week doing activities including canoeing and drinking coffee with water boiled on a kelly kettle. Just being out on beautiful Derwent Water is a great way to relax and refocus.

Enter the enchanted woodlands at Derwent Hill! Tutor Pam has created a fantastic and magical Nocturnal Animal trail. An evening torchlit activity where children can learn about the adaptations of animals that are out and about at night time. A great learning experience!
More work in the grounds at Derwent Hill. The access to the platform on the abseil tree has been improved. A great activity for adults and children. We are really looking forward to having groups back again!

Today we had a small outdoor gathering to say goodbye to Barbara who has been the Business Manager at Derwent Hill for 15 years. She has been an integral part in the growth and development of Derwent Hill and will be missed by all the team. We wish her all the best for the future
The grounds at Derwent Hill are looking stunning. The team have making some changes creating even more niches for wildlife. It is such a great space for both adults and children to connect with nature and let your imagination run wild! 😀

The sun has been shining this weekend in the Lake District. However, it doesn’t always shine! Some of the team headed up Lord’s Seat in the mist and rain...but it was great to be out in the fresh air.

With the easing of lockdown, the Derwent Hill bears decided to get out and do some activities. A bit of fell walking, rock climbing and ghyll scrambling on a windy and wild day. It was good to be out again!

280 miles of walking, running, cycling, canoeing and windsurfing was accomplished over the weekend by the Dewent Hill team. That’s the equivalent of Sunderland to Derwent Hill (105miles) 70 miles of activities and (105 miles) back to Sunderland! Well done team!
Conservation in action at Derwent Hill! Thank you to everyone who was involved in Tree Planting and Himalayan Balsam Bashing on the river banks at Derwent Hill. It has been as great success. Have a look at the article below for more information

Look at these amazing recycled wellies. Children at Fulwell Junior School have been painting and planting. The old wellies came from the stores at Derwent Hill and are now looking fantastic at the reception of Fulwell Junior School. Great work!
