🚨🔴 Understand Carlos Baleba to Man United deal fee will be £65m plus £5m add-ons.
Cameroon midfielder has authorization to travel from Brighton as Manchester United have booked a medical over the weekend.
Here we go, confirmed. 🇨🇲
🚨🚨🌕| NEW: Manchester United looked at players who could operate in midfield and left-back. Lewis-Skelly is a clear example, although he prefers midfield, while Eduardo Camavinga was also mentioned.
Carlos Baleba has not played at left-back for Brighton, but his left-footedness makes that a possibility at United should the need arise.

🚨🚨| Michael Carrick’s Manchester United have a 𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐃 midfield lineup this season:
→ Bruno Fernandes
→ Youri Tielemans
→ Kobbie Mainoo
→ Andrey Santos
→ Carlos Baleba
→ Mason Mount
Fantastic deal all round. Club have done so well in their 3 midfield signings this summer. Value for money and haven't overpaid at all, unlike other clubs.
🚨 Carlos Baleba to join Manchester United from Brighton & Hove Albion on 5+1yr contract; personal terms verbally agreed & 22yo to do #MUFC medical on Saturday after deal struck with #BHAFC at £65m + £5m + sell-on clause @TheAthleticFC post @FabrizioRomano https://t.co/PVzrRhSp1U
I asked Michael Carrick whether he felt the void left by Casemiro will be filled by this summer’s midfield signings.
He said: “I think players have always come and gone through history here, and you've got to evolve, you've got to find ways of moving forward, you've got to find ways of winning, essentially.
“I know we've got a good midfield, you know. We've brought in some really, really top players and really good characters, which is important. And we've got to evolve, you know, we've got to evolve and we've got to improve.”
Carlos Baleba is the next step in the evolution 🇨🇲 #mufc
🚨 United has ALREADY started work on a new left back. They see this as a PRIORITY position after the completion of the midfield rebuild. #MUFC [@SullyTalkz]
🚨 One of the big reasons Manchester United decided to pursue Carlos Baleba was because Michael Carrick especially believes he can get the best out of him again.
Man Utd made an approach earlier this summer but Brighton’s asking fee was laughable. Baleba’s injury opened up the oppurtunity again. United are buzzing.

🚨NEW: 🇨🇲 Carlos Baleba to Manchester United: HERE WE GO! ✅
💰 £65m + £5m add-ons + sell-on clause
📝 Five-year contract + one-year option
👀 United are NOT DONE — a left-back is now being actively pursued
🇮🇹 Italian clubs have called for Joshua Zirkzee, while Aston Villa have also made exploratory contact.
If Zirkzee leaves, United could look at signing another striker
Still business to be done. 🔴🔥 #MUFC [@FabrizioRomano]
🚨🗣️ @alex_crook:
"I think then the focus for United will shift to the left-back position. They know they can’t rely on Luke Shaw to play every minute of every game, particularly when you factor in Champions League football.
One name emerging from Spain overnight is the Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde, so one to keep an eye on between now and 1st September when the window closes. Ideally, Lewis Hall at Newcastle would be United’s dream target, but Newcastle have made it pretty clear they’re not willing to sell him this summer. In fact, they’ve started talks over a new contract.
And we’ve already mentioned the German international David Raum at RB Leipzig - he has a £34M release clause. So United are GETTING ACTIVE when it comes to recruiting a new left-back."

Carlos Baleba to Man United agreed in principle at £65m plus £5m. Credit where it’s due for Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox. Walked away last summer when Brighton wanted more than they got for Moises Caicedo. Got him for £50m less 12 months later.
🚨 Manchester United are pleased with the deal they have struck for Carlos Baleba.
Brighton’s stance last summer was they wanted ‘MORE than Caicedo was sold for’. Chelsea signed him in a £115m deal.
They valued Baleba in excess of that sum. United feel they have a value signing just 12 months later. #MUFC [@StevenRailston]
Last season, INEOS invested heavily in the attack with Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko.
This season, they’re investing heavily in the midfield with Andrey Santos, Tielemans and Baleba.
Next season, INEOS will probably invest heavily in the defence.
I’m starting to see the pattern. 👀😂
🔴✍️ Manchester United appear to have established a clear and focused transfer strategy in recent seasons, prioritising players with Premier League experience who still have plenty of potential to develop.
2026/27 midfield rebuild:
🇨🇲 Carlos Baleba — £70M
🇧🇷 Andrey Santos — £50M
🇧🇪 Youri Tielemans — £35M
2025/26 attack rebuild:
🇨🇲 Bryan Mbeumo — £65M
🇧🇷 Matheus Cunha — £62.5M
🇸🇮 Benjamin Šeško — £73M
🚨NOW THAT is a Manchester United midfield we can ALL get behind. 😍🔴
• Kobbie Mainoo — bags of potential, Carrington through and through 🌟
• Andrey Santos — huge potential, intelligent and composed 🇧🇷
• Youri Tielemans — experience, quality and a leader 🇧🇪
• Carlos Baleba — ridiculous potential, physical MONSTER and a midfield machine 💪
Youth, experience, technical quality, physicality and different profiles for different games. That’s not just a midfield for this season — that’s a midfield you can build around for YEARS.
Manchester United delighted with the Carlos Baleba deal.
Feeling a year ago was Brighton wanted 'Moises Caicedo' type money even though a price was never offered.
12 months ago, Manchester United were prepared to pay around £75m. They now add Baleba for five million less.
Baleba will sign a 5+1 contract subject to formalities.🔴
🚨💣 BREAKING: Carlos Baleba to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between clubs.
Improved bid sent today after £65m package rejected and player set to join the only club he wanted.
Baleba, new #MUFC player soon. 🇨🇲
Bruno tells Sesko to make sure his media-day photo is a good one — just in case it’s needed for his Player of the Month graphic. 😂
Bruno: “You’re going to score a hat-trick!”
Šeško: “If you pass me the ball…”
Bruno: “Wow… you heard what he said.” 😂
