Mia Sol Stoelen, an activist living in Norway who burned her Israeli passport to protest the genocide in Gaza, said Israel has become “a society made up of extremes.”

The daughter of an Israeli father and a Norwegian mother, Stoelen lived in Tel Aviv for seven years as a dual citizen.

She said that during her time in Israel she initially did not see the situation as an occupation and “thought that it was like we’re all kind of living together.”

But she eventually realised she was “very ignorant” and understood the reality of apartheid after a trip to the occupied West Bank.

“I think they’ve fallen victim to state propaganda and they are very much brainwashed by their media,” she said.

Stoelen also recalled receiving threatening messages from a person in Oslo after sharing a video of herself burning her Israeli passport.

“One of them sent me a photo with a gun and then said that he and some others were going to come and chop me into pieces.”

She criticised the Norwegian police for mishandling the situation and accused Norway of being complicit in Israel’s war crimes.

“Because they have invested 22.6 billion Norwegian Kroner ($2.2 billion) in occupation-linked companies and so they are directly profiting from the loss of human life… They are essentially showing that they value shareholder value above humanity,” Stoelen added.

📜 The five ‘abrogated’ verses: Evolution of the naskh (abrogation) theory in the Quran and its resolution in Ahmadiyya thought

The Quran is considered by Muslims to be the final and universal law revealed by an All-Knowing God, which has been perfectly preserved and remains unchanged since its revelation to Prophet Muhammad (sa). Yet, whilst maintaining this belief, the majority of Muslim scholars throughout the ages have accepted that certain verses in the Quran were completely cancelled and replaced by others. They also believed that certain verses were revealed to the Prophet (sa) but are not included in the Quran we have today. The number of such “abrogated” verses varies drastically, but the higher end of these counts reaches into the hundreds and as much as 8% of the entire Quran.[1] Perhaps most striking is the claim that one single verse (the “Sword Verse”) abrogated a total of 124 verses in one clean strike.[2]

The doctrine of abrogation (naskh), which gradually became a genre in its own right in the eighth century during the era of the tabi‘un (successors of the Companions), is one of the most contentious topics within the Quranic sciences. Scholars disagree on most aspects of the theory: the very definition of naskh, the methods of its application, and whether the theory is even valid in the context of the Quran. A minority of scholars even rejected this doctrine altogether, asserting that any perceived contradiction between two verses of the Quran can, and should, be explained and reconciled.

Early evidence suggests that the Companions of Prophet Muhammad (sa) did not use the term naskh in the rigid, technical sense that later scholars developed – which is how most Muslims understand it today. Their usage was very fluid and figurative, and did not always connote complete cancellation. Over time, however, as the genre developed and tight technical definitions were formed, a dramatic inflation in the number of supposedly “abrogated” verses occurred. Three types of Quranic abrogation were eventually formalised: the verse is present in the Quran but its ruling has been abrogated and replaced; both the verse and its ruling have been abrogated and are not present in the Quran; and finally, the verse is not present in the Quran, but its ruling remains operative.

The implications of this theory cannot be ignored. If parts of the Quran were permanently cancelled, in what sense can it be deemed perfectly preserved, eternally valid and universal? What is to be made of certain passages that were meant to be a part of the Quran but are not, irrespective of whether it was just the text of the verse, or both text and ruling, that were left out? Narrations of this nature suggest that roughly 10% of the Quran could have been lost.[3] For a believer in a preserved scripture, revealed by an All-Knowing God, such implications raise serious theological problems.

Such challenges form the basis of this study. The historical evolution of the doctrine of abrogation, from its early usage to its later technical expansion and formalisation, is traced. The three types of abrogation are examined, after which a reconciliation and explanation of the five remaining “abrogated” verses as recognised by Shah Wali Allah (d. 1762) in his al-Fawz al-Kabir is presented in light of Ahmadiyya scholarship. Each pairing of “abrogated” and “abrogating” verses is independently discussed. The perceived count of abrogation has thus been brought down to zero, thereby rejecting the application of the abrogation theory to the Quran.

Der CNN Bericht „Bulldozed corpses and unmarked graves“ zeigt, wie Israels Armee hungernde Palästinenser beim angeblichen Hilfspunkt Zikim in Gaza erschießt und ihre Körper mit Bulldozern beerdigt. Laut UN hat Israel seit Ende Mai mindestens 2.615 nach Hilfe suchende Menschen getötet und 19.177 verletzt.

CNN rekonstruiert den Fall von Ammar Wadi. Auf dem Sperrbildschirm seines Handys steht: „Vergib mir Mama falls mir etwas passiert.“ Er geht im Juni los um Mehl von einem Konvoi bei Zikim zu holen und kehrt nie zurück. Wochen später identifiziert die Familie seinen Körper.

Verifizierte Videos vom 11. September zeigen Menschen mit Mehlsäcken unter Dauerfeuer. Robert Maher, Experte für Forensik von der Montana State University, lokalisiert die Schüsse auf rund 340 Meter, passend zu einem israelischen Posten den CNN identifiziert.

Weitere Aufnahmen vom 15. Juni zeigen einen umgestürzten Hilfslaster, umgeben von Körpern die teilweise bereits im Sand stecken. Eine Rettungskraft gegenüber CNN: „Die Körper waren verwest, man sah dass Hunde Teile von ihnen gefressen hatten.“ Die Retter bergen 15 Tote, etwa 20 bleiben zurück.

Lastwagenfahrer berichten, Leichen seien entlang der Zikim Route allgegenwärtig. „Ich sehe jedes Mal Tote wenn ich durch Zikim fahre, ich habe gesehen wie israelische Bulldozer die Körper begraben“, sagt einer. Ein Fahrer beschreibt das Gebiet als „Bermuda Dreieck, niemand weiß was dort geschieht und niemand wird es je erfahren“.

Ein israelischer Whistleblower schildert CNN, wie Anfang 2024 „neun Leichen unbewaffneter Palästinenser“ tagelang um seinen Posten lagen, bis der Kommandeur die D9 Bulldozer befahl „die Körper mit Sand zu bedecken“. „Wenn du siehst dass sie unbewaffnet sind und Hunde mit Knochen Beinen und Schädeln spielen ist das furchtbar“, sagt er.

Die Menschenrechtsgruppe Euro Med Human Rights Monitor sieht im systematischen Verscharren palästinensischer Körper an unmarkierten Orten einen Ausdruck des Genozids im Rahmen der Völkermordkonvention. Die Juristin Janine Dill nennt das Bulldozieren von Leichen und Körperteilen eine Verletzung der Menschenwürde und ein Kriegsverbrechen nach den Genfer Konventionen.

Der 17-jährige palästinensische Junge, Mohammad, wurde von Israels Militär verschleppt, als er nach humanitärer Hilfe in Gaza suchte. Nach seiner Freilassung berichtet er von den Qualen und der Brutalität in dem israelischen Folterlager Sde Teiman.

Feldforscher der NGO Defense for Children International - Palestine (DCIP) befragten drei Jungen, die von Israels Militär entführt wurden, als sie im Sommer in Gaza nach humanitärer Hilfe suchten, und in das Foltercamp Sde Teiman außerhalb von Gaza verschleppt wurden, wo sie anschließend ausgehungert und gefoltert wurden. Zwei der drei Jungen wurden entführt, als sie an einem Standort der Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), die von den USA verwaltet wurde, Hilfe suchten.

Einer von ihnen ist Mohammad Nael Khamis Al-Zoghbi. Er ist nur 17 Jahre jung. Er wurde für nichts angeklagt oder verurteilt. Ihm wurde nichts vorgeworfen. Israel folterte ihn. Einfach so. Itidal veröffentlicht seine Zeugenaussagen auf Deutsch.

Mohammad wurde am 11. Juli in Rafah an einer Hilfsstelle der Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) verschleppt. Israelische Soldaten umstellten Mohammad und die anderen Hilfesuchenden, ließen einige frei und nahmen die meisten fest.

„Sie begannen, mich zu foltern und zu schlagen“, sagte Mohammad. „Sie schlugen wiederholt auf meinen Bauch und meine Seite. Wir alle waren verbunden. Einer von uns erbrach Blut und brach zusammen. Sie traten und schlugen weiter auf uns ein. Ihre Militärstiefel hatten Metallspitzen, was unerträgliche Schmerzen verursachte. Ich erinnere mich an diese Qual, als würde sie jetzt gerade passieren.“

In Sde Teiman gab es nächtliche Überfälle mit Blendgranaten, Schlägen und Beschimpfungen. Sie nannten das Razzien. Nach der Verlegung in eine Kinderzelle wurde Mohammad nach 77 Tagen in den „Disco-Raum“ gebracht:

„Sie brachten mich in einen Raum, der als ‚Disco-Raum‘ bezeichnet wird, einen Bereich innerhalb des Gefängnisses, der vom Rest der Einrichtung abgeschottet ist. Ohne Pause dröhnt laute Musik. Der Gefangene wird gezwungen, auf dem Betonboden zu liegen, und die Musik läuft weiter, bis du nicht mehr kannst, Kopfschmerzen bekommst und dein Kopf sich anfühlt, als würde er platzen.“

Beim anschließenden Verhör drohte der Vernehmer, ihn zu erschießen, und zog die Handschellen so stark an, dass sein Arm brach:

„Ich konnte hören, wie die Knochen in meinem Arm knackten“, berichtete Mohammad.

„Sie setzten uns Elektroschocks aus und nutzten Hunde, um uns einzuschüchtern und zu foltern, indem sie die Hunde auf uns losließen, während wir gefesselt waren und uns nicht verteidigen konnten“, sagte er weiter. „Alle zwei Tage brachten sie Hunde, um uns zu quälen, und die Aufruhreinheit warf nach Mitternacht Blendgranaten in die Zellen, um uns zum Aufwachen und zum Knien zu zwingen. […] Die Verbrennungen waren heftig.“

Heute ist Mohammad wieder bei seiner Familie, aber die Folter beherrscht seinen Alltag:

„In diesen Tagen wache ich um 2 Uhr morgens auf, genau zur Zeit der Überfälle, eine Gewohnheit, die sich während meiner Gefangenschaft gebildet hat“, sagt er.

„Wenn ich während der Überfälle nicht aufwachte, schlugen mich die Soldaten, und ich riskierte, von einer Blendgranate getroffen zu werden, die sie in den Raum warfen. Ich fühle mich extrem erschöpft und habe Schwierigkeiten, die Gefühle zu beschreiben oder auszudrücken, die aus meinen Erfahrungen stammen. Jedes Mal, wenn ich mich daran erinnere, sitze ich allein da und weine.“
