they are both 2 separate issues that both work together. if tuition is rising bcs loan amounts aunt capped =bad. If rate is lets say 6.5% and the student pays none of the loan amount for 4 years on 120k the accumated interest is capitalized on the loan ($20,809) making the loan $140,809. that same student now defers the loan until he or she finds a job (another 2 years). now we are at $159,710.... it keeps going and going min payments never cover it - hence slave to the loan
@danwind0310@STinDC83@OriginalRoddick@JennDinKC I'm all for that as well. my example as bad as it was, was literally "the govt removing guardrails in 2010 bcs "everyone deserves" didn't even make it possible for future students to pay it back"....
I'm actually not, I mentioned it b/cs they basically removed the guards rails and said "you'll pay the going rate and we'll capitalize the loan" while also saying "every one deserves to go to school". They didn't even think about ballooning rates, peoples ability to pay and the capitalization... they didn't even give an option there and assumed universities would not continue to raise tuition bcs "why not" its basically guaranteed..
Exactly, that's why I call it slavery... b/cs its like they create a subset of people constantly broke, voting on whether a candidate is promoting forgiveness or not, while creating more gov't dependents. Its almost like what they passed in 2010 was intentionally meant to work this way or the govt truly didn't do the math.....
@getderb@STinDC83@OriginalRoddick@JennDinKC yup I did the student loan thing, when I woke up and saw the hustle I took 2 years to pay it off in full. Def made me realize those that push it don't do the math for you. Suffering for 2 years of broke was worth it.
@LCNJensen@Hitech202@adammocklerr best of both worlds... he gets a little help looks like a hero and continues his "sanctuary city" mumbo jumbo... pure hypocrisy and misleading marketing.
I would say yes 2010 HCERA under a certain admin, contributed to today’s high debt levels indirectly by expanding federal aid, making repayment more forgiving & federalizing student lending, effects that interacted w/ the Bennett Hypothesis & encouraged greater borrowing. So either they didn't do math... or...
@Hitech202@adammocklerr well thanks to federal, less illegal migration is flooding every state... so the money they spend on it is declining... a state like NY won't acknowledge that, but they will take the credit as if its something they did...
@AwfulMcbad@STinDC83@OriginalRoddick@JennDinKC just insane....some classes should definitely not be covered for a loan amount, IMO. Imagine how many credits are paid for at a premium that never turn into anything other than a big bill.
