Design is dead. 💀
But what's emerging? AI agents that learn your taste, generate infinite variations, test with real users, and optimize performance... all while you sleep. The new designer doesn't make things. They train systems that make better things than humans ever could.
OpenAI GPT-5 is now in public preview for GitHub Copilot.
GPT-5 will be rolling out to all paid Copilot plans, starting today.
You will be able to access the model in GitHub Copilot Chat on @github, Visual Studio @code (Agent, Ask, and Edit modes), and GitHub Mobile through the chat model picker.
Noticed another UI update in ChatGPT: Updated message input field + new functions/tools drop-down menu (the icon is now called "Add files and more").
Are @OpenAI just testing ideas, or are they already preparing UI for GPT-5? 🤔
🚨 Just dropped the first post in a new series on Design Systems + AI:

August 5: An absolutely massive day for AI releases! 🛸
Here's your digest: 👇
1. @OpenAI goes open-weight! Meet gpt-oss-120b and gpt-oss-20b, two powerful new reasoning models (reportedly 117B & 21B parameters).
2. @AnthropicAI's Claude Opus 4.1 is live! It brings enhanced performance for coding, complex reasoning, and agentic tasks.
3. @GoogleDeepMind's Genie 3 is a game-changer. More than a video generator, it creates interactive, playable 720p/24FPS worlds from a text prompt. You can explore them and even introduce real-time changes (like "make it rain"). A huge step for agent training & AGI research.
4. @elevenlabs introduces Eleven Music, aiming to be the new benchmark for AI music. It offers full creative control over genre and style, supports multiple languages (incl. Spanish, German, Japanese), and lets you edit the sound and lyrics of individual sections.
5. And @GeminiApp gets a creative boost! The new "Storybook" feature lets you create personalized, illustrated stories on any topic, using your own photos and complete with read-aloud narration. "Story time, reimagined."
Stay tuned, AI week is still underway. 📻
Noticed a UI update in ChatGPT: @OpenAI has added an "Apps" dropdown menu, which includes Codex and Sora.
This appears to be a move toward integrating their various tools into a more unified interface.

Excellent 10 Principles for Good Design, to Boost Your UX / UI Designs, by Dieter Rams! 🙌
FREE Cheatsheet attached 🔖
1. Good design is innovative
Possibilities for innovation are not, by any means, exhausted. Tech development is always offering new opportunities for innovative design. But innovative design always develops in tandem with innovative technology, & can never be an end in itself.
2. Good design makes a product useful
A product is bought to be used. It has to satisfy certain criteria, not only functional, but also psychological and aesthetic. Good design emphasises the usefulness of a product whilst disregarding anything that could possibly detract from it
3. Good design is aesthetic
The aesthetic quality of a product is integral to its usefulness because products we use every day affect our person and our well-being. But only well-executed objects can be beautiful.
4. Good design makes a product understandable
It clarifies the product’s structure. Better still, it can make the product talk. At best, it is self- explanatory.
5. Good design is unobtrusive
Products fulfilling a purpose are like tools. They are neither decorative objects nor works of art. Their design should therefore be both neutral and restrained, to leave room for the user’s self- expression.
6. Good design is honest
It does not make a product more innovative, powerful or valuable than it really is. It does not attempt to manipulate the consumer with promises that cannot be kept.
7. Good design is long-lasting
It avoids being fashionable and therefore never appears antiquated. Unlike fashionable design, it lasts many years – even in today’s throwaway society.
8. Good design is thorough down to the last detail
Nothing must be arbitrary or left to chance. Care and accuracy in the design process show respect towards the user.
9. Good design is environmentally-friendly
Design makes an important contribution to the preservation of the environment. It conserves resources and minimises physical and visual pollution throughout the lifecycle of the product.
10. Good design is as little design as possible
Less, but better – because it concentrates on the essential aspects, and the products are not burdened with non-essentials.
Back to purity, back to simplicity.
