@philmarfisi @DesmondRecord In 2018 when he was Mayor, he had an opportunity to bring life saving treatment to his city via CTS. The Public Health surveys and studies were done. Heat maps of the locations of the highest rates of overdoses reviewed. The experts advised on best location in Cambridge. 1/2 🧵
@philmarfisi @DesmondRecord Instead of letting the experts do their work and save lives, he and his council put in place an interim control bylaw to prevent the service from going in without further study. They then paid for an independent review that came up with the same conclusion. 2/2
@philmarfisi @DesmondRecord Cambridge still doesn’t have a CTS or enough support services to help with the crisis. Many have died and many are suffering. I’m glad to see a change of heart but if it comes with a million strings attached then this is nothing more than political theatre.
