A United States immigration judge has ruled that Ghana's OSP failed to present sufficiently persuasive evidence to establish that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta committed any criminal wrongdoing.
In his ruling, Judge Gardey stated that although he reviewed the OSP's case, which includes more than 70 criminal allegations against Mr. Ofori-Atta, the evidence presented did not convincingly show that he engaged in misconduct during his tenure as Finance Minister or personally benefited from his public office.
In granting Mr. Ofori-Atta's application for an adjustment of immigration status, the judge also took into account his long-standing ties to the United States, noting that he spent decades studying there and previously worked at Morgan Stanley and Salomon Brothers. The court further considered that Mr. Ofori-Atta is currently undergoing cancer treatment and has a son who is a U.S. citizen before approving his request for adjustment of status.
