Yesterday, the #Tigers lost 6-4 to the Twins in Bloomington. Rookie Frank MacCormack (0-2) was not effective in his second start, walking 6 and giving up 3 runs and 4 hits in 4⅓ innings. Jason Thompson hit a 3 run 8th inning HR(7) to tie him with Willie Horton for the team lead.
After Minnesota scored in the 3rd, a solo HR by Bill Freehan (2) in the 4th made the score 3-1. Finally, both teams scored in the 8th, the #Tigers on a double by Staub and a single by Alex Johnson.
The #Tigers scored two in the 1st inning. Ron LeFlore led off with a double and went to third on a groundout. After a walk to Danny Meyer, Rusty Staub's single scored LeFlore. A Jason Thompson ground ball scored Meyer.
Dave Roberts, his sinker working well, defeated the Minnesota Twins this evening with a complete game 4-2 victory. A crowd of 6,215 at Metropolitan Stadium saw 24 of the 27 outs made by the Twins come on infield grounders.

The #Tigers had not scored and had only three hits off Dave Goltz. In the 6th, Dan Meyer tripled and scored on a Rusty Staub single. Later in the inning, a sacrifice fly by Bill Freehan and a HR by Aurelio Rodriguez (would have been (4)) tied the score.
Ruhle was replaced by Jim Crawford, who allowed two sacrifice flies to make the score 4-0. Ruhle (5-3) pitched 4+ innings, giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits and 3 walks.
Vern Ruhle started on the mound for the #Tigers. In the 3rd inning, two walks and an error by Tom Veryzer loaded the bases. A double by Mike Cubbage scored two unearned runs. Two innings later, the Twins laded the bases again with no outs.
This evening at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota, the #Tigers scored four runs in the top of the 6th inning to tie their game against the Twins at four apeice. But in the bottom of the 6th, rains came and delayed the contest.
After a 67 minute wait, the umpires, seeing hours of continued rain in the forecast called the game over. But since the 6th inning was not complete and the game's outcome was changed during an incomplete inning, the score reverted back to the last completed inning.

The #Tigers win tonight snapped a seven game Royals win streak while they salvaged one game of the three at Royals Stadium. With a 25-31 record, Detroit is in 5th place in the AL East, 8½ games behind New York and ½ game ahead of the last place Brewers.
Rookie Mark Fidrych pitched his sixth compete game in his six major league starts. The Bird (5-1) pitched 9 innings, giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 2 walks. Fidrych struck out 2. His ERA for the season is now 1.86.
Ralph Houk sent in veteran Mickey Stanley to hit for Bruce Kimm. Stanley bounced a single through the right side of the infield, Johnson scored, and the #Tigers had the 4-3 win.
Danny Meyer led off the bottom of the 9th with a bad-hop single off the chest of KC shortstop (?) George Brett and went to second on a deep fly ball to left field off the bat of Rusty Staub.
After Jason Thompson struck out, KC Manager Whitey Herzog brought in Marty Pattin to pitch to the right-handers. Alex Johnson drove in Meyer with a single. After Johnson stole second, Aurelio Rodriguez was walked intentionally.
