I’m not sure we fully understand how significant this is
$500k raised in less than a week of launch, 4m+ users, $170+ rev…. It’s absolutely insane
I’ve always believed that with the tech available today, profound products would emerge from Africa…the talent was never the problem, the minds, creativity, technical skills were always here
what held many people back was the cost of getting started…. Time was the most expensive thing, then you needed a team, some funds just to get a product to market
AI has changed that narrative… the cost of building and launching products is falling and more people can now turn ideas into reality without needing the resources that used to be ablocker
Lagoslife is a glimpse of what’s possible and I know so much more will come out of Africa. Shalom has broken a mental barrier for many of us, showing us what’s possible when African builders have the tools to bring their ideas to life
Now is the best time to build. Start now!
First of all, your social media outrage, boos, or cheers are completely useless to me. Nobody here feeds me, and if your knee-jerk emotional reactions made any difference, you wouldn't have that thing sitting in Aso Rock calling itself "president". Whenever you are done crying, you'll drink garri and shut up like you always do.
Second, for the benefit of the 10-15% of Nigerians who are still teachable and whose brains aren't completely rotted out by Nigerian Bantu Education and region-specific social media algorithmic programming, I want to ask a rhetorical question.
If like most Nigerians, you have no idea that General Sani Abacha established Nigeria's first and only nuclear reactor and nuclear research facility in 1996, the same year the US launched an urban bombing campaign in Nigeria and started giving arms training to Nigerian exiles in a nearby West African country ahead of a planned armed insurgency that was supposed to kick off in 1998 (I've personally spoken to at least one of these people), then what else don't you know about who or what Sani Abacha was?
What do you actually know about what his government represented to Nigeria beyond the same things you have heard for nearly 30 years? If it wasn't until as recently as 2018 that Nigeria was forced to give up its 1kg of 90% weapons-grade Highly Enriched Uranium which it obtained from China under the program Abacha's government created, and you had no idea when all this was happening, then what else don't you know about Nigeria?
Remember, the target audience of these questions is the 10 - 15% of Nigerians whose brains aren't already calcified and resistant to information. If you're part of the "I have 5 degrees so I am smarter than everyone else" or "I watch Gehgeh live streams" communities, kindly scroll past. This message is not for you.
I’m looking for technical builders working with AI to join us at TSG Labs.
People who can talk to customers, prototype solutions, build the integrations, and get them into production.
We’re building 0→1 products across AI and fintech, with Paystack’s infrastructure, distribution, and ecosystem behind us.
If you’re high-agency, deeply technical, and happiest building from first principles, I’d love to hear from you.

LLMs can sound confident even when the info they have is incomplete or irrelevant.
In this guide, Chidiebere shows you how to build AI systems that know when to fall back instead of guessing.
You'll use domain checks, retrieval-quality scoring, log probabilities, and human escalation to build more reliable pipelines.

If you had unlimited AI tokens, can you as a developer build X, Facebook or Reddit?
Think deeply about that question and re-evaluate the role of developers in building a successful product.
At some point, the data becomes more valuable than the model itself.
This is what we’ve been doing on @smartfarmai it’s great to see how Satya puts it in his article.
nice architectural plan bro 👏
some advice i can give regarding this:
when you pull from an external api, your first move should always be dumping the raw response into an object store like s3 or even a local json file
and why is that ?
tbh if you try to clean the data on the fly and your logic fails on record 9,999 out of 10,000, that means you have to ping their api server again, doing that on a paid api is going to cost you money because you're repeatedly hitting their server everytime an error comes up in your code.
so always decouple your extraction from your transformation. get the data safe on your storage first, then run your transformation.
extract -> load raw -> transform
🗣️Dear Nigerians,
In case you haven’t seen this yet…👇🏽
Nigeria hasn’t conducted a credible population census since 2006. That means for almost 20 years, decisions about school, hospitals, and resource allocation have been based on estimates.
Now, the interesting part is, between 2022 and 2023, N129.5 billion was disbursed for the 2023 population census. And that money went into:
📌 N118.38 billion for Personal Digital Assistants
📌 N2.47 billion for Hilux vehicles
📌 N499.8 million for power banks
📌 N106.19 million for an e-recruitment portal
@TrackaNG wrote to the National Population Commission requesting full details under the Freedom of Information Act. The law requires a response within 7 days. It’s been over 3 weeks, no response.
So we’re asking: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MONEY?
Public funds demand public accountability!!

Phase 3:🥳
To ensure data is being uploaded to where it can be accessed from any location, once an internet connection comes up at the remote health clinic. What did i do?
> Provisioned an S3 bucket for the data uploads
> Created a python script that checks for internet connection every 10 seconds
> Once a connection is available, it pushes the parquet file from the outbox/ folder to the S3 bucket.
> Then moves the file from outbox/ to uploaded/ locally once its sure that the data is now available on the S3 bucket.
And there you have it, a simple, reliable offline-first data pipeline that works even with intermittent connectivity.
Will be documenting this project and pushing it to GitHub next. If you're interested in the workflow, you can access it there.
Omo, too many backend devs are just too chilled with REST APIs sha 😂
Never touched SOAP?
Never touched gRPC? Or GraphQL?
If all you do is CRUD apps daily… you’re not really an engineer.
