How does one begin contributing as a software engineer in web3?

Curious to know which projects are real and what kind of help they need

I have more in Robinhood bc of no fees, but if I wanted to transfer to my Ledger it looks like I'm going to have to wait until my crypto wallet becomes available off their waitlist

My banks/credit cards don't seem to want to allow it, but the workaround seems to be buying on Coinbase first then transfer
