DevilDog Lab

Sales engagement for small teams. Sequences, broadcasts, real inboxes — without enterprise pricing. Built by a founder who ships. 🌵

@AbhishekU008 @marclou you're not wrong. but deliverability isn't about vibecoded vs not. it's whether the tool has SPF DKIM DMARC, enforced warmup, suppression lists, bounce thresholds. those guardrails are what keep your domain alive.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

Outreach runs ~$120/seat/month, annual contract only, no public pricing, plus onboarding fees

that works if you have a procurement team

it doesn’t if you’re five people who just need sequences and follow-ups

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@IliyaOblakov Couldn't agree more - simple rules including verified sources for all agent-written content will save you in the end.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

the hardest part of starting cold outreach isn't the setup

it's knowing peers will see "automated sequences" and think spammer

so you hand-write every email and send three a week

guardrails are what prove you're scrappy, not spammy

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@itsjsaint 3 bounces out of 61 is under 5%, you're fine. DKIM will close the gap on Yahoo specifically. set DMARC to p=none while you're in there so you get reports back without rejecting your own mail.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@Shubham_6x the gap and handwritten templates aren't your problem. cold volume from a personal gmail account triggers google's spam filters fast. separate domain, SPF DKIM DMARC, and 2+ weeks of warmup before you send.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

ten prospects? you can track follow-ups in a spreadsheet

a hundred and you need conditional logic:
if opened then send this
if replied then stop
if no open in 3 days switch subject lines

that's where manual sending breaks

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@htngapi 200 cold investor emails with zero replies usually means the list wasn't filtered by thesis fit. investors respond to stage and sector match, not persistence. one warm intro beats fifty cold sends.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@IliyaOblakov @bot the smartest thing the bot did was wait on warmup. a fresh domain sending cold in under two weeks is basically asking to land in spam. let it cook longer than feels necessary.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

three things that decide whether your cold email lands or dies:

< separate domain from your main one
< 14+ days of warmup before you send a single campaign
< SPF, DKIM, DMARC all configured and verified

skip any one and you're one bad send away from a burned domain

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@JEgroup_co silence across the board usually means the message, not the effort. what are you leading with? if your first line doesn't show you researched them specifically, agents scroll right past.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@anshgrows 30 total sends is too small a sample to read anything into. the follow-up after one day is probably too soon though. let the first batch breathe 3-4 days before circling back.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@timon_nick dms are a numbers game but the numbers only work if the message fits the person. if you sent the same pitch to everyone, the silence is targeting not effort. tighten who, then tighten what.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@okarabuilds your cold emails probably had the same problem: 70 sends to builders who aren't your buyer. 70% opens is curiosity, not intent. the fix is who you're sending to, not what you're writing.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

45% opens and almost no replies means your subject line is fine but the body isn't earning a response. the gap between open and reply is usually value prop clarity or a weak ask.

[DevilDog Lab @DevilDogLab]

@dylan_bridger GHL uses shared sending infrastructure, so your deliverability is partly tied to what other accounts on the same IPs are doing. For under 10k broadcasts, list hygiene and your own SPF/DKIM/DMARC setup matter more than the ESP choice itself.
