Yes, shared accountability!! One of my research questions is where the responsibility falls between parents and schools-it falls on both. Educating students AND parents on nutrition and healthy living is crucial

@ educ 697, this reminded me of our discussion of ‘Kindergarten’. Especially that last line. You will fail at times as a teacher but it leads to improvement and you can’t cheat the system and become the best teacher ever your first year, but you will grow and learn!

It’s important for teachers to look at ways they are being barriers for a child’s learning experience i.e. having a certain policy about pencils⬇️

If your Ss need a pencil. Give them a pencil. If school doesn't provide them & Ps can't/won't send them in, find another way. Buy misprinted pencils online for pennies or recruit a local business to donate.
Don't embarrass or punish Ss. Just give them a pencil. #TeachBetter

@Rdene915 A3: Is the teacher teaching in a way that the students enjoy? Has the teacher even taken the time to look at how her students learn and what causes them to be engaged and WANT to learn? Asking students how they learn best will be beneficial in combatting this boredom.

@littlegrnthumbs I wish my elementary school had done some sort of program like this! Love that it teaches kids about food security and how important our earth is (and that we need to take care of it!)

@mccoyderek This also gives students the freedom of choice without being forced to sit at a desk all day. Moving around throughout the day is essential!
