🤝 Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed to The Imperial Palace by Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan. The Duke and Duchess also met with Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince and Crown Princess Akishino.

�� In the garden at the Akasaka Residence, Their Royal Highnesses planted an oak sapling grown from a tree planted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during the state visit in 1975.

📚🍎 Today The Queen celebrated the impact of the @Literacy_Trust in Middlesbrough. The Trust is an independent charity that empowers children, young people and adults with the literacy skills they need to succeed. 

Her Majesty joined 750 children from 12 local schools, Children’s Laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce and author Nadia Shireen on stage before presenting five students with their ‘Star Reader’ certificates.

On the final day of their visit, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh explored the breathtaking landscapes around Pokhara and the Annapurna Conservation Area, concluding their journey in Ghandruk—a picturesque hill village with deep-rooted Gurkha heritage.

Their Royal Highnesses were warmly welcomed with a traditional ceremony and enjoyed a vibrant Gurung dance performance by a local youth club, celebrating the rich culture and history of the region.

This evening, The King visited Auschwitz 1 where he viewed a collection of personal items confiscated from victims upon their arrival at the camp and passed through the 'Arbeit Macht Frei' gate before laying a wreath at the Death Wall in commemoration of all those who were executed there.

The announcement follows Her Royal Highness’ own personal cancer journey, during which she received treatment from The Royal Marsden.
