Let me get this straight. SCOTUS says colleges can't take race into consideration during admission....
But they can give preference to "legacies."
Since non-white students were barred from most colleges for 200+ years, legacy students are by definition most likely white.
People w/ mental health conditions make up 53% of the population at Rikers.
On average, they are held 61% longer.
We pay $556,000 per person annually to keep them in jail. 90% on Rikers are held without conviction.
By contrast, it costs ~$42k to put them in supportive housing.
As you read this, remember this Academy member admits he never watched the film. He should be expelled. His bigotry and sexism is what we’re fighting against. Ultimately art isn’t a competition, but racism is an anathema
Wanted to take this moment & recognize what Maxwell Frost, the first Gen Z member of Congress, did this week. He asked the right questions. He proved to the entire nation that age doesn’t matter—young people are just as capable in Congress. A Masterclass for all of us to see.
So let me get this straight - Republicans contend that a 4th grader is old enough to be forced to carry a baby to term & old enough to carry a gun and in some states old enough to marry, yet they’re somehow not old enough to read a book which mentions discrimination?
Seriously?
