I’m excited to announce my commitment to Jacksonville University. Thank you to Coach Hayes, Coach Bortles, and Coach Brown for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to get to work. #committed
A trip to the Mecca of College Baseball is on the line for the Johnnies and the Tide! 27 years since Bama’s last trip to the Big O…46 for St. John’s. So hard to make it this far. Should be a great one ahead! One of the best in @DaveNealSports on the call. 🍿

Been watching this kid the last couple months and not many hit the high level pitching like he does. Eric is a dude CF as well.
If you’re a college coach looking for a diamond in the rough, this is a pretty great event to attend. Over 100 signed seniors in a league with just 11 different academies across the east coast of the US, with plenty of talented players still looking for a home! #ABA

I’ve said this before, but in almost every profession in our country, except baseball apparently, we learn the most from the people that have done it before and have done it at a high level. We all have had mentors in some way that have help guide and direct us.
We must have a balance, not 100% either way, of that I agree, but, giving sole control of an organizational hitting philosophy to someone who the players WILL NOT respect is a mistake. Players respect and listen to coaches who have done it before. This is just a plain fact.
There should be a balance of powers.
With 1 out and the 9-hole on deck, you have to think Chase was going on contact. Even with a better jump, he’s not scoring there.
Chase was a “dead duck”, and in my opinion, going back to 3B and staying put was best case scenario (runners at 2nd, 3rd with 2 outs). However, Stuetz buried his head and ended up basically on 3B, leaving Chase nowhere to go.
At that point, I’d imagine for Chase forcing two perfect throws (Patel to 1B, Schmidt to home) probably felt like the better option to him vs. a rundown that likely ends the game anyway (which I’d agree with).
In the middle of all that, that was elite PFP and awareness by Patel.
Stopped Chase’s feet, threw a strike to 1B.
Schmidt followed with a strike home to get a speedy runner with no panic at all by anyone in the play.
Great game. Weird ending.
But a great teaching moment for Florida State. Link is one of the best teachers in the game, and that’s a play that’s hard to simulate in any practice and expect to be perfected in game. They’ll be better because of it.
Onto the next! Tonight should be a good one 🍢🍢🍢
