What's scarier than robots taking our jobs? that the 2nd most aspired to job (after doctor) among 11-16 year olds is....social media influencer. Irony of posting this on twitter is not lost on me...but let's inspire kids to aim big and high! #futureofwork https://t.co/7Ki7GKyBoq
@PeteButtigieg The combination of a data-driven mindset and an empathetic soul goes a long way towards solving problems and making human lives better. You're onto something and I'm staying tuned in... Many parts of the US that are struggling economically would benefit from this approach.
wow. These jobs require the skills and qualities that make us human. empathy. ability to listen. gentleness. strength. using #technology to reduce challenges of tough jobs like caregiving and enable us to use our human capabilities will make #futureofwork better for all
.@aijenpoo brings a remarkable statistic to #SkollWF: By 2030, if you take child care and elder care jobs combined, it’ll be the largest combined workforce in the U.S., adding "We have got to make these jobs good jobs."
@juliarebeccaj Thanks for the article. Stories about separated immigrant families are so important but so painful to read. Have you come across any particularly high impact ways for individuals to help? Organizations to donate to? Etc?
@alanlepo@MIT_IIC Great chatting with you Alan! Thanks for your support and enthusiasm. Our conversation brightened my Friday. Look forward to many more conversations to come. #techforall (P.S. I may have a home office backdrop on our next call...😁)
@bertil_hatt@erikbryn@MIT_IIC Startups like @iorahealth & @careacademyco are tackling healthcare by finding niches and opportunities. As a remote worker, yes! Progress for sure. Wish there were transport solutions in rural Maine... Great education examples. And yeah real estate....Location Location Location!
Calling all Inclusive Entrepreneurs: THIS CHART IS IMPORTANT! focus your innovative energy on BIG challenges like these and make a BIG difference in the lives of millions. @MIT_IIC#futureofwork#techforall
We need more startups trying to solve the top half of this graph.
It's incredibly difficult to get a toe hold there, but when you do it's an outrageously large opportunity.
key point about geographic inequality by @mastergruber w/ @mitsloanexperts livestream NOW. Simon Johnson's idea of a competition for joint public investment to drive innovation hubs in new regions is intriguing and promising. #mitsloanexperts
Thanks for the shoutout @indexaward. My quote is from two years ago and I believe it more than ever today! tech (with a little t!) as a tool for humans. #techforall
"We need to build technology that meets our needs as people, rather than building technologies simply because we can." -- @DevSpoke, Executive Producer of the Inclusive Innovation Challenge (IIC). #indexaward2019#meetthejury https://t.co/UqED8zpMKb
So much talk of smart cities...let’s start talking about smart towns and smart villages. As #remotework (like mine) becomes more common, people will move where they can afford quality of life. City folk, check out home prices in my zip code and weep...then move here! #maine
