the "every man for himself" mentality is essentially what has led to american hyper-individualism which disconnects us from our natural human need for community... it separates people so far from their humanity because it's seen as the only way to survive

unfortunately I do think this is the upper-class regime, constantly pit "average" people against each other by making resources more and more unobtainable, therefore creating an "every man for himself" mentality which makes people less sympathetic/kind overall.. sucks so bad tbh
