Theme: Those in whose hearts are sick will always meet the truth of Islam with enmity

وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الْمُنكَرَ ۖ يَكَادُونَ يَسْطُونَ بِالَّذِينَ يَتْلُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِنَا ۗ قُلْ أَفَأُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرٍّ مِّنْ ذَٰلِكُمُ ۚ النَّارُ وَعَدَهَا اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ

“When Our clear verses are recited to them, you recognise hostility on the faces of those who disbelieve. They almost assault those who recite Our verses to them. Say, ‘Shall I inform you of something worse than that? The Fire which Allah has promised those who disbelieve, and what an evil destination!’.

LESSONS:
1. Truth sometimes provokes anger, especially when it challenges deeply rooted falsehood, pride or personal interests.

2. Hostility towards a message does not make the message false. A believer must remain steadfast even when speaking the truth attracts displeasure.

3. Violence is not evidence of strength. Attempting to silence the truth through intimidation often exposes an inability to answer it with reason.

4. Muslims must not imitate this behaviour. We should listen patiently, examine evidence fairly and respond to disagreement with knowledge and good character.

5. Worldly anger is temporary, but rejecting Allah’s clear guidance has eternal consequences. The believer should therefore fear the Fire more than the hostility of people.

O Allah, open our hearts to Your truth, protect us from pride and hostility, grant us patience when we are opposed, and make us among those who listen sincerely and follow what is best. Save us and our loved ones from the punishment of the Fire. Āmīn.

On the authority of Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
‘Actions are only by intentions.’ And in another narration: ‘by intention.’
‘And every person will only have what they intended. So, whoever's migration was for Allah and His Messenger, then his migration was for Allah and His Messenger. And whoever's migration was for some worldly gain he might achieve, or a woman he might marry, then his migration was for whatever he migrated for.”
