The NBA trying to prevent random bench players from rigging their own unders has unfortunately provided sportsbooks and prediction markets with a gift. They can now say “we’ll take it one step further and remove all unders for the sake of compliance!” Now the side of the market that sharp players take is only accessible via market making APIs, and only by offering the over. So the pricing can creep higher, and the general public isn’t price sensitive enough to care. Market efficiency on these props will erode, and the general public will get screwed, all in the name of compliance. It’s super predatory and the league just handed this to them

The one thing I didn’t love about Tailgate was seemingly addressed today. Having a public leaderboard and a feed to see everyone’s picks is cool, but sometimes you just want to privately fire on some dumb shit. You don’t want people tailing those picks thinking you’ve got an edge
