With regret it is announced that our HLM Jim Hooper died recently aged 98. In September 1944 he was a member of B Squadron of the GPR and flew in men of the South Staffs. A full obituary will appear in our newsletter.
#OTD in 1944, with the front line in Europe stagnating, high command was horrified by the thought of a return to the Christmas truces of the First World War. Nonetheless, steps were taken to prepare the frontline troops and on 14 December a unusual cargo was loaded into an LST.

Remains of a British soldier found at Bemmel by the Royal Netherlands Army Recovery and Identification Service. He died in 1944 during the aftermath of Operation Market Garden. The service will try to identify the soldier.

It is with regret that we announce the death of our Hon President Colonel John Waddy aged 100 yesterday. In 1944 he was OC B Company of the 156 Parachute Battalion. More pictures on our FB page.
