@NHLBruins Despite the non-great stint with the Mammoth, he looks like a decent option for the Bruins. He fits the system, and the system will help him improve his numbers to be worth close to $7.7m
Thoughts on Peterka acquisition:
Love that he’s only 24 with upside, rather than an approaching 30 vet with a high floor. Fits present and future. Great speed, and skill. Game needs to mature.
Optimizes Marchand return far more than late 1st rounder in ‘28.
Tough to give up 23 overall, thought there could’ve been some future help on the blue line available.
Can they trade back into the 1st?
What else do they have planned over coming days?
Still, Peterka is likely better than any of those picks would’ve ended up being and he helps now.
Not a player I thought was available.
Only real 2nd guess is if those picks could’ve been packaged in a bigger deal but that may not be out there.
Have thought since first setting foot in Boston in the 80s & feeling the pull to become a resident, that there are similarities with 🏴. An independence of spirit & character when it comes to sport, unmistakable accent. Slightly in the shadow of a bigger place to the south.
I would love it if Boston (and Mass.) decided to leave these regulatory changes in places after the World Cup ends. But if they try to roll them back, which is very likely, we are all going to have to do our part and start drinking in public more often.
One week of bars being open past 1am and the people of Boston are acting like rural townspeople at the end of a film where a friendly outsider teaches us to live life to its fullest or overcome our differences, except instead of aliens or drag queens it’s 50,000 Scots
The Boston Red Sox would be crazy if after the World Cup they don’t invite Super John McGinn to return as their guest at Fenway and have him throw the ceremonial first pitch.

Haha. I’ve made my decision. It was very split but I have decided to go to the actual game. I decided I need to see Flower of Scotland sang in a stadium before the game. Both were can’t lose decisions. I’m excited.
🇨🇿 Czechia (40) vs. South Africa (60) 🇿🇦
Loser goes home. I think Czechia will be going to the corner flag…A LOT
Czechia scored the most set-piece goals of any European team in qualifying (8 total) and they generate those chances through relentless crossing volume, 8.1 accurate crosses per 90, third highest in the entire European cycle. Schick is an elite aerial target with 49 Bundesliga goals across the last two seasons, and Krejci already showed the blueprint in the opener, scoring from a throw-in against South Korea. The problem for South Africa is that they got physically dominated by Mexico in every duel category, and now they’re missing Sithole and Zwane to red card suspensions. A reshuffled, depleted back line against Czechia’s size advantage is a recipe for dead balls all game long.
Czechia averaged 6.9 team corners per game at this level and 11.4 total corners. Those numbers don’t depend on the scoreline, they come from the crossing game itself. Blocked shots, half-clearances, and forced saves all feed corner volume, and SA’s defense is going to be under sustained pressure from minute one. I also like Czechia -1.5 at +251 if you think the set pieces translate to goals. I have this as a 2-0 Czechia win, and SA’s 3-shot performance against Mexico doesn’t inspire confidence they can keep this close.
🎯 JBB’s Betting Angle: Czechia 7+ Team Corners (30¢ / +233)
Hoping (and sensing) this is the World Cup that opens eyes. So many Boston area people have been exposed to 🌎⚽️ & specifically to our little 🏴 country‘s culture.
Sports talk hosts, local TV are embracing it in a way the old media guard just wouldn’t in 1994.
🌎✨ Kylian Mbappé is only 2 goals away from reaching world record for MOST goals in World Cup history.
Miroslav Klose’s record is 16 goals, Mbappé has 14 now. 27 years old.
🚨 Kylian Mbappé: “I’m not playing for revenge. If I wanted to silence all the critics, I have to play until I’m 80 years old”. 👴🏽
“I’m only focused on doing my best for my country. That’s it. Full focus on that”.

🚨🇧🇷 Ronaldo Nazário on the difference between prime Brazil and today's Brazil:
"Today's players are like crying babies. In our time, football was pure passion. We weren't focused on fashion, social media, or building a personal brand. Our lives revolved around football. We trained hard, played through pain, and gave everything for the badge, our teammates, and the fans."
"We didn't step onto the pitch thinking about followers or sponsorships. We thought about winning, making Brazil proud, and leaving everything on the field. Football came first, and everything else was secondary."
"In our era, every nation feared Brazil. Opponents were beaten before the match even started because they knew they were facing Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Roberto Carlos and so many world-class players. Today, that fear factor is gone."
"That hunger, sacrifice, and obsession with the game is what made our generation special. We lived football every single day."
