The GENIUS Act excludes decentralized protocols from the definition of a “digital asset service provider.”

The statute says a digital asset service provider does not include a “distributed ledger protocol,” people developing/operating distributed-ledger protocols or self-custodial software.

A truly decentralized protocol with no company, no issuer, no person obligated to redeem for dollars, no centralized custody of reserves, and no centralized promise of redemption is not what GENIUS was written to regulate. The law’s language is aimed at issuers like USDC/Tether-style centralized businesses.

DigiDollar is not an issuer-backed payment stablecoin. It is a decentralized, over-collateralized UTXO protocol where users mint against their own DGB collateral, retain custody, and redeem through protocol rules — not through a company, bank, issuer, reserve account, or promise to pay dollars.

Important $DGB DigiDollar update:

We experienced a brutal inadvertent forking of the TestNet chain following DigiDollar Oracle swap tests. 🫤

Good news is we proved you can't forge oracles 🤓

Testing RC43 on testnet25 exposed an important oracle roster issue. While testing adding/swapping DigiDollar oracles, TestNet split into separate chains with irreconcilable differences. This is exactly why we test heavily before mainnet.

Simple version:
RC43 added a new oracle. Some nodes knew about it, some did not. When that new oracle signed a price bundle, upgraded nodes accepted it, but older nodes rejected it.

Even though the rule still required 9 oracle signatures, the list of valid oracle signers changed. That means every validating node needs to know the same oracle roster, or they can disagree on which blocks are valid.

Miners are part of this too. Oracles can sign data, but miners and pool nodes validate blocks. If a miner is running old rules, it can reject blocks that include the new oracle and keep mining the old chain.

So the lesson is clear: oracle roster changes must be coordinated across oracles, miners, pools, and nodes. Adding or swapping oracle keys is consensus-sensitive and needs a safer process.

We are working through the fix now. The immediate path is either coordinate everyone onto the same RC43 testnet chain, or reset testnet25 cleanly with everyone on the same code.

Longer term, we are working on better oracle roster update logic so additions and key swaps can be handled safely without risking forks.

This does not affect mainnet. DigiDollar is not active on mainnet. The whole point of testnet is to find these issues before launch, learn from them, and make sure this never happens on mainnet.

Painful lesson, but a valuable one. RC43 helped prove where the rollout process needs to be stronger, and we are improving it before mainnet activation.

I want to clear up some confusion: $DGB DigiDollar is ready to deploy to main-net, but final release is not out yet.

The soft fork process to activate DigiDollar can take months. Unlike centralized chains you just can’t flip a switch.

Hey everyone, quick $DGB DigiDollar / RC34 update:

This week has been a bit of a mixed bag. GPT-5.5 has been significantly nerfed compared to how it performed the first week, and after multiple rounds of bug hunts and hardening, the agents also introduced a few regressions and changes that should never have been added. Because of that, I’ve had to go back to the beginning of RC33 and review the changes line by line. It’s tedious, but necessary.

For example, one agent arbitrarily added a new maximum cap on DigiDollars, and another changed oracle inclusion behavior so blocks without DigiDollar transactions were not carrying the expected oracle pricing data, which caused chain/testnet issues. So right now I’m working through those problems manually and pushing RC34 toward an ultra-stable release point: clean commit history, full test suite passing, fuzz tests passing, and most importantly the full multi-oracle testnet script running end-to-end.

It’s not moving as fast as I expected, but it is moving. Thank you to everyone who has been testing and sending bug reports. Once RC34 is stable, I’ll go back through all the reports from the last week and make sure they are audited properly. The goal is to get RC34 very close to a main net release point. We may still need an RC35 if anything important shows up, but it’ll be ready when it’s ready. Thanks again to everyone helping test and stay involved.

As with any software development, the last 5% is the hardest, and AI is not quite to the point of producing workable, finished, polished products. That's where the human element still has to come in and why our testing here is so important.

I know many people are asking about a May release for #DigiDollar, so here is a $DGB DigiDollar development update:

The #DigiSwarm AI development team 🐝 is hard at work running wave after wave of adversarial audit swarms against the DigiDollar codebase. These Red Hornet swarms are designed to attack, stress-test, and harden the code before release.

We are using multiple DigiSwarm machines running both Opus 4.7 and GPT-5.5 at max reasoning to review the protocol, wallet logic, oracle system, consensus rules, and edge cases from as many angles as possible.

So far, the Red Hornet audits have identified about a dozen issues that will be fixed in the upcoming RC33 release. They have also exposed three architectural questions that we need to think through carefully before mainnet.

We will continue running these attack swarms for several more days. The hard truth is that once DigiDollar is released, any serious issue becomes much harder to fix. So the right move is to test, test, test, and keep trying to break DigiDollar before it ever launches publicly.

With modern AI tools, it is easier than ever for attackers to search for exploits in blockchain protocols. The recent Litecoin MWEB issue is a reminder that even code that has been live for years can still reveal serious problems later.

DigiDollar is very close to being ready for a version 1.0 mainnet launch. But before we release it publicly, I believe we need to absolutely hammer it with security audits and make sure everything is smooth, secure, and backward compatible.

We now have almost 90 people in the dev chat, and I cannot thank everyone enough for helping test, develop, review, and provide feedback on DigiDollar.

We may need to delay launch by 2–4 weeks. My proposal is simple: when a majority of the developers and DigiDollar testers feel confident, we move forward. If there are serious doubts or unresolved security questions, we resolve them first.

Security comes before speed. Confidence comes before hype.

I will do a video update this Friday with more details after we have had more time to finish the Red Hornet audits.

DigiDollar is close. We just need to do this right. 🚀
