My personal take: Good player but I don't think the contract ages well. He's always playing through pain and it hurts his production. When a player can only bring his B game most of the time is he still worth 5.5 million?

Habs pulled off an excellent sell-high trade. If Monahan gets hurt long-term, he loses all trade value like last year. He's in the middle of a hot streak and the Lindholm trade just went down. The timing could not be better to pull the trigger.
