The way a company hires is how they will treat you once they hire you.
US Company sends you interview invite: please pick a time you are available for this interview.
Nigerian company sends invite : your interview will happen tomorrow 4pm!!
Very disgusting behavior.
I know there is a kind of hyper-positivity that suggests you can always make up for lost time and do anything at any age. While that may be true for certain things, the idea is still flawed.
It is 8:37 p.m. I am in my daughter’s dark room, sitting on a rocking chair, trying to get her to sleep, listening in on Bible study, barely able to do anything productive myself. I can only reminisce about the days when I worked 16–18 hours every weekday. This was barely two years ago. If you think I say this to sound impressive, ask any of my friends.
Now, the weight of being a father and a husband makes that impossible. My time is no longer mine.
Maximize the time you have now. Build capacity. Do the work of the father. Hmmm I tell you, a time will come when your physical strength will fail, and you will only be able to rely on the strength you once built and the impact you have made.
