I recently came across 5-4-3-2-1. This creates a moment of objectivity and control so that when you’re triggered, you can consciously choose a different response. If you'd like to learn how to do that with money, give me a call.

We have the unique power to make conscious choices, but we mostly don't know how it works. To learn how to make better choices with money listen to my latest podcast interview on The Pursuit of Relentless. https://t.co/07OL91fqR3
"Anything that speeds people up instead of slowing them down is going to cause more impulsive and uncritical behaviour” - Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman. Find out how this links to our evolutionary wiring and our spending. https://t.co/PWxD8NReV5
“Everything you've ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.” George Addair. To understand how fear hijacks our finances, please see my latest article.

Humans are unique and our superpower is narrative – stories that we tell about the world. And these stories are everywhere - story is the beginning of everything. New political movement. New technology. New cultural movement. But what about the stories we tell about ourselves?
‘We like feelings and emotions in love, sports, and any kind of performance. Yet in decisions about finances, we categorically reject their value (and influence) and usually blame any regrettable decision on the very existence of emotion.’ Emotions are information. Be curious.
During the times I wonder what I’m going to do with my life and I’m unable to envision it, I recall a dot-to-dot picture of a giraffe – a gift from a four year old. It comforts me to know that when I can’t see the whole picture, all I really need is to see the next dot.
I'm really enjoying Giri/Haji on Netflix and there's this great line in ep.6 - "I'm scanning the horizon with my telescope looking for any sign of my comfort zone."
Facing our fears - money or other - is hard, but by moving forward, those fears will soon be in the past.
The degree to which I just handle stuff and deal with it versus getting upset by it, is the degree to which my life works so much more harmoniously. When I meet my discomfort in the moment, it ceases to have power over me.
Taboos are the breeding ground for fear, limitation, misunderstanding, and pain. Until we pry open the door and begin to explore the taboo subject of money, we remain imprisoned in systems that keep us stuck, fearful, and contracted. Deborah Price - Money Coach
What if being loved and accepted was my job, not somebody else’s? What if I stopped trying to impress other people all the time so I could get love and acceptance from them?
We need to bring greater consciousness to the financial decision making process because we know that the subconscious processes aren’t that good at it. They’re really good at keeping me alive. Not great at long term planning or anything that requires me to engage with discomfort.
It's been a while since it tweeted and I thought it was time I shared some of the ideas that I come across. So let's start with:
"We didn't make most of the choices that make us who we are. BUT,
We can make choices about who we want to be."
Thank you to everybody who said how much they enjoyed the workshop. If you'd like, I'd be happy to hold a follow up session where we could explore some of the themes that came up and what people found useful.
