APPEAL FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE RESCUE, RELIEF AND REHABILITATION OF FLOOD-AFFECTED COMMUNITIES
At approximately 8:40 a.m. NST on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, a devastating flash flood occurred in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa, affecting riverine areas in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and other districts and causing extensive loss of lives and property. The assessment of the human and physical losses caused by the flood is ongoing, while the Government of Nepal has intensified search, rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.
To provide immediate shelter and protection to affected citizens and to mobilise the financial resources required for their long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Government of Nepal, has issued a public appeal for financial contributions to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister Relief Fund, both administered by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested Nepali missions abroad to undertake the necessary initiatives, including through Nepali associations and organisations, to support the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the affected communities.
The Embassy therefore earnestly appeals to all Nepali associations, community organisations and interested individuals in India to contribute to the immediate rescue and relief of citizens affected by the disaster, as well as to their long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction. Contributions may be deposited into the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fundor the Prime Minister Relief Fund through the bank accounts specified in the details enclosed herewith.
The Embassy is confident that the support extended during this difficult time will make an important contribution towards saving lives and providing relief, rehabilitation and renewed hope to the affected citizens of Nepal.
