@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC If your argument is strong, address those points instead of making assumptions about my aptitude or whether I can clear Prelims. Personal attacks only weaken the argument you’re trying to defend.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC Calling someone “narrow-minded” doesn’t make your argument progressive. I’m questioning an examination framework on the basis of standardisation, consistency and fairness—not avoiding competition.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC An aspirant can study governance, vulnerable sections, public administration and citizens’ rights regardless of the answer format. The syllabus develops awareness; the question format determines how that knowledge is assessed.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC Those topics aren’t exclusive to descriptive preparation. An objective exam can test the same knowledge through case-based MCQs, application-oriented questions and current-affairs scenarios.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC My point is simple: in an objective exam, a correct answer gets the fixed marks and a wrong answer gets the same predetermined penalty for everyone. In descriptive evaluation, the same answer can receive different marks depending on the evaluator’s judgement.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC And objective assessment isn’t inherently a Group-C tool. The method should depend on what competency you want to measure, not the status of the post.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC Because evaluation reliability is part of exam design. If two evaluators can reasonably award different marks to the same answer, evaluator-dependent variation becomes a fairness concern—especially in a competitive ranking exam.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC UPSC being the premier civil-service exam doesn’t make its pattern the only valid model. That’s an appeal to authority, not evidence. The question is whether descriptive evaluation is demonstrably more fair, reliable and effective—not who uses it.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC Calling descriptive “the way forward” is an assumption. Modern assessment is moving towards standardisation, technology and testing different competencies through different methods—not simply replacing objective exams with descriptive ones.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC So saying objective = mugging, descriptive = thinking is an oversimplification. Both formats can reward preparation; the real question is how fairly and consistently the exam measures it.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC Descriptive exams aren’t immune to rote learning either. Coaching institutes routinely provide model answers, ready frameworks, introductions, conclusions and “value-addition” templates, which aspirants practise and reproduce.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC And objective pattern does not mean rote learning; MCQs can test conceptual understanding, application and analytical reasoning. Let’s challenge the argument, not the aspirant.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC If variation were only because of candidates, the same answer would receive similar marks regardless of the evaluator—which isn’t guaranteed in descriptive evaluation. A framework can standardise evaluation, but it cannot eliminate human judgement.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC Real administrative ability comes from knowledge, reasoning, integrity and experience. These can be assessed through a combination of objective questions, essays, interviews and other stages—without making the entire selection dependent on subjective descriptive evaluation.
@MG0001873937150@Prashjd1507@BaliramDoleyINC The question isn’t whether an objective exam magically makes someone a better administrator. No exam pattern can guarantee that. The point is to select candidates through a fair, consistent and merit-based process.
