FIFA’s decision to put the proposal on hold does not end the conversation around supporting smaller football associations.

The debate has highlighted an important reality: many of FIFA’s 211 member associations continue to face financial challenges and require stronger support to develop infrastructure, improve training programmes, and grow the game.

The focus now should be on finding sustainable solutions that are carefully evaluated, widely supported, and capable of delivering long-term benefits for football worldwide.
