Octavia Spencer got a picture with Barack Obama and somehow the picture became the embarrassing part.

That’s what makes this story so good. She isn’t trying to recreate some glamorous celebrity moment she’s completely comfortable admitting that the photo caught her in a way she absolutely wasn’t expecting.

And the fact that she can look back at it and laugh at herself instead of trying to make the story sound cooler is exactly why it lands. Meeting Obama is one thing. Having photographic evidence of the moment is apparently another.
