Many of you make a great point about lifeguards often being students, so pools lose essential staff (though in the south they often go back weeks before Labor Day).

Maybe I should have just said at least keep the splash pads open at the playgrounds/parks?

My (likely not) unpopular take as a *newish* mother: Neighborhood and public splash pads (& pools) in the south should not close after Labor Day.
It makes no sense.
There has to be another arbitrary date later in the year that better corresponds with the actual temperatures here

@MoreOrLessAMess I mean, splash pads aren't staffed on site (at least here they aren't) beyond the regular public parks staff that might be there already. Pools, I totally get that (though it seems some areas do open on weekends through October)
