Diagnosed #ADHD at the age of 30. Set out to learn about my brain. Hyperfocused. Now I’m a psychology student (🤷♀️). Chaos & sarcasm. #NeurodiverseSquad
So a new study just debunked the claim that children outgrow ADHD. The study found that 90% of the children continued to experience ADHD traits in adulthood. It also concluded that ADHD is a lifelong condition
ADHD is having 3 urgent things on your to-do list but but ending up not doing any of them because your brain spends the entire time trying to figure out how to prioritise them.
I told my university when I graduated last year that there wasn’t enough education on autism and adhd, so they invited me to lecture on it. So I just delivered a lecture to third year mental health nursing students on autism and adhd and I think it went really well!! 😇
I hate being Autistic -sometimes. I’ve been through so much trauma purely from being Autistic. Constantly bullied in every job/place I go and of course “I bring it all on myself”. I’m financially worse off because I can only work part-time, due to being Autistic. The times I’m not in work in stuck reliving trauma I’ve faced because of my Autism. I can’t get adequate help for said trauma because they don’t understand Autism. DWP don’t care or understand Autism. Being Autistic is not fun. I’m not suicidal but there’s a reason the suicide rate is so high.
I’m going through life speaking a language nobody understands - I also struggle to understand other people. I live in a permanent state of confusion.
This is how I feel right now - may have changed in the morning, there are some pro’s. I’m not interested in them right now though.

Different neurodivergent conditions can result in very similar outward presentations.
We need to look past outward presentations and understand internal experiences and how all of this changes over time to adequately understand neurodivergent people and communities

Hyperfixations aren't just a weird quirk of ADHD; they're an important way for ADHD'ers to self-regulate.
Hyperfixations can be fulfilling, and even healing, for people with ADHD, and not having hyperfixations can be sign that we're struggling, overwhelmed, or depressed
@StructuredSucc I have to distract my mind in order to focus my mind. Yes I have a contrary mind that won’t do as it’s told! Reverse psychology works - sometimes. Maddening.
