Not really. The class action operates as a private rules enforcement mechanism that protects customers from companies who (1) negligently harm their customers or (2) violate rules and regulations

The government can not possibly enforce all the consumer protection laws and regulations on the books; so that responsibility falls to private attorneys

It would be the Wild West (from a consumer perspective) but for private attorneys keeping corporations honest via class actions on the consumer’s behalf
