Neurosurgery resident at @LHSCCanada. Former electrical & biomedical engineer. PhD in brain MRI and spectroscopy @SchulichMedDent. Aspiring surgeon-scientist.
Did you know that Vitamin D has long been investigated for its role in dementia? My contribution, where we looked at the effect of chronic VitD deficiency in Alzheimer's disease model mice, is now available in the Feb 4 issue of Behavioural Brain Research. https://t.co/NmLMS2D0AT
Here is a recent paper where I contributed my imaging expertise to study the effects of hemodialysis on the brain. Although hemodialysis is a life-saving treatment, it is not without its harms. It has been a treat to work with Dr. Chris McIntyre of @lawsonresearch & his team.
Over a single dialysis session, significant changes occur in the brain that are consistent with impaired brain perfusion and ischemic injury to white matter—suggesting that hemodialysis might have long-term neurological consequences https://t.co/pWT2OFckez
@northernthrux @SchulichMedDent@westernu_nsx Thank you Dr. Menon — Perhaps there will be future opportunities to work with you again, now that I’m a resident here at LHSC.
It’s a great pleasure to welcome several incoming #Neurosurgery residents from varied Canadian programs for a post-CaRMS Match 2022 panel! All med students are highly encouraged to join us on June 19 to learn about all things CaRMS-related. To register: https://t.co/MsHMsTmz7T
I'm happy to say that I'll be joining @westernu_nsx and @westernuCNS as a neurosurgery resident later this year. I am excited for this next adventure and am looking forward to learning from everyone there. 🧠 #MatchDay#CaRMSMatch
Many #Alzheimer's Disease (AD) patients have altered body composition and low #VitaminD levels. Using microCT, we investigated the effect of #VitaminD supplementation and memantine (a drug many AD patients take) on body composition in a mouse model of AD.

I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to get the COVID-19 vaccine as a medical student. There is a peace of mind to know that I'll now be better protected as I continue to learn how to care for patients.
Working as a full-time software developer and project manager at Pickle Care (https://t.co/sJcrAP6wTR) this summer has given me new appreciation for this. Thank you Random Person From Nebraska.
@JohnYooMD@SchulichMedDent@neuro_suse (2/2) Was the selection process for a scholarship supporting translational research somehow biased against students that are not co-supervised, but are instead supervised solely by clinician-scientist (an MD/PhD)?
@JohnYooMD@SchulichMedDent@neuro_suse (1/2) Congratulations everyone! I know some of the recipients personally and they are all very deserving of this award. However, I noticed that all recipients are co-supervised by a clinician AND a scientist. It seems odd that this is the case.
Considering Taiwan’s example and how they started to act in December without a need of total lockdowns, it’s worth noticing - as we all know - that WHO took China and Wuhan as the prime example of handling the outbreak. I am emphasising, we had a better example, 1/2
For those who think the #WHO and #China did a good job handling the #COVID19 situation early on, this article offers some insight into how they didn't. https://t.co/MYsETC0JGL
@Healthmac @KateCarraway Considering the emerging evidence of asymptomatic transmission, I say wear a mask when you're shopping (i.e. in an environment when the argument of low pop density doesn't apply), and but don't when you're outside for a walk and can maintain social distancing. What do you think?
@Healthmac @KateCarraway I live in #ldnont and it's almost impossible to keep #PhysicalDistancing when getting essentials (i.e. in grocery stores), esp. when waiting in line. Ppl are keeping 6 ft from those immediately in front of them, but the line snakes, so they are standing 1 ft next to someone.
After a few more days of playing, I'd like to make an amendment. I made the previous tweet prior to learning it goes up to 4-STARS!?
3-star minimum to get married.
4-stars if y'all wanna have children. 😂
