@BritishSpiders There has been a huge increase in wasp spider numbers in the reserve over the last few years, which was why they thought that was a likely possibility.

@BritishSpiders

A wasp spider’s nest found on a reserve in Northants today. This spider was being very attentive to it, as if it was guarding it. I think it’s a male. Is this unusual behaviour, as surely he would most likely have been eaten by the female after mating?

@BritishSpiders Thank you. I was with someone who had been sent a photo by a reliable naturalist friend yesterday, who believed they’d found a wasp spider nest. She thought this nest looked similar. I have attached the photo and wouid be interested to know what you think please?

@BritishSpiders In Rothwell, Northants yesterday - don't recall seeing a spider quite like this before. Can you tell me what it is please? I think maybe some sort of sac spider from an app.....

@BritishSpiders Thank you - will do a bit of reading up now.

[Diddy Dan Di @DiddyDanDi]

@BritishSpiders Excuse the poor photos, but I am interested to know what these spiders are please, seen on a Northants reserve today. I am especially interested to know what wraps itself in a nettle leaf? Is it to hunt or to lay eggs?
