Exactly 1 year ago today, what was meant to be a side quest gave me some of the greatest trades (% wise) of my career, yet.

Turned $2K to >$10M.

Considering I run a private fund, this started off as a side quest for me. I never traded memes before. I’ve never been in the ‘trenches’ prior. Only partook in majors, alts (since 2017) and equities (since 2010). Wasn’t a part of any group chat. Didn’t know any insiders. October 13th of last year was the day I opened my first account on solana after reading the conversation between Truth Terminal and Marc Andreessen. Memes never interested me, but what was happening here seemed to have a layer of fundamentals. Entered goat sub-10M. Dug into the rabbit hole, found fartcoin deep in the infinite backrooms, and allocated the maximum I could (considering there was no liquidity whatsoever, sub-30k market cap), knowing it'd be an attention black hole.

All the narrative engineering, 1000s of posts, the 3d chess moves, collaborating with literal Al bots — was a first for me — turned a side-quest into a main-quest at the time. Gained 100k followers. Grew the fund to nearly mid-8 figures without raising any outside capital and played the Al meta at peak performance, with several 7-figure realisations.

A lesson I learnt here: Experiment — Don’t limit yourself to niches and specific asset classes.

It isn't the money that made this the best time of my life. It was playing the game in flow-state.

Every cycle since I entered crypto, I’ve had 1 heavy hitter (>100x) followed by a few good trades (5-50x).

2017: XRP — ETH, Substratum, IOTA.
2020: Ampleforth — DeFi tokens.
2024: Fartcoin — Goat, LLM, Bully.

What I’ve learnt is that you just need 1 good trade a cycle for your portfolio to outperform by several magnitudes for the gap years between said cycles.

Sometimes all you need is one good trade in a lifetime.

I.e. the spoils from that one good trade will pay you dividends (as you allocate them to your other average/good trades) greater than any benchmark ever could.
