@KristerVasshus@HakonBlystad Perhaps they learnt as they settled abroad. There are several Aptot (= OSc. Abildtoft) and Prétot (= OSc. Peretoft) place-names of Scandinavian origin in Normandy. And the word pere is hardly anything but a loanword in Scandinavian.
