BIG news from Eledon: they've submitted an IND to the FDA for a clinical trial using tegoprubart in people with type 1 diabetes who've received transplanted islet cells from organ donors.

But let’s break down what it actually means.

After all 12 people in the University of Chicago study became insulin-independent following islet-cell transplantation, Eledon has now submitted an Investigational New Drug application to the FDA for its own company-sponsored trial.

In plain English: This research is moving beyond one small university-led study and onto a formal path toward potential FDA approval.

The original study is also expanding from 12 to 15 participants, while tegoprubart is being studied in additional islet-cell and kidney-transplant programs.

A few important reminders:

👉 This is not FDA approval yet.
👉 Tegoprubart is an anti-rejection drug—not the source of the insulin-producing cells.
👉 These transplants still use islet cells from deceased organ donors.
👉 Participants still require ongoing immunosuppression.

But this is still a meaningful step forward. A company-sponsored, registrational study is exactly what needs to happen if this treatment is ever going to move beyond a small research program and become available to more people.
