I went deep on this thing and was blown away. Here’s how it was developed and how it works:

Dyson spent 6 years, 661 engineers and 38 patents on the CameraJet.

The problem: most people miss the gaps between teeth, where plaque forms. Flossing is a separate step few do consistently.

The solution: a 100,000-pixel camera in the brush head captures 28 images per second.

An on-device AI system trained on 470,000 dental images identifies those gaps.

Within 100 milliseconds it fires a cone-shaped jet of mouthrinse into the gap.

That has to happen while the head vibrates at 58,000 movements a minute, in a dark, wet mouth.

Dyson also developed a synthetic plaque with the National University of Singapore to test the jet without running a new clinical trial after every change, and a low-foam toothpaste so the camera can see.

You brush as normal. The device handles the interdental cleaning at the same time.
Dyson’s published figures: up to 69% more plaque removed than market-leading premium electric toothbrushes in hard-to-reach areas (lab test).

In a 4-week clinical study versus a manual toothbrush, gum bleeding fell 65% vs 37%, and 74% of CameraJet users reached “healthy gums” versus 6% in the manual group.
