On 17th Ramadan 2 AH, the Battle of Badr took place which turned out to be the most defining moment in Islamic history. Muslims were just one third of the one thousand fully equipped adversary and yet defeated them.

When the fully-armored army was positioned before the eyes of the Muslims, it was Prophet Muhammad (SAW) alone, who was a source of strength to the Muslim soldiers. The names of 14 martyrs are listed at the site of battle.

Even after a war over Pahalgam, India chose to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup, despite Delhi’s staunch narrative that Pakistan was involved, placing financial gains above conflict and conscience. For India and its dwarf President in the ICC, financial and commercial considerations appeared to take precedence over the so called terror victims.

Pakistan, however, took a strong moral position. It has agreed to participate in the T20 World Cup but refused to play India; standing in solidarity with Bangladesh despite the massive revenue at stake.

The contrast is stark where India prioritized profits, Pakistan chose principles over financial gains.

As a student of Pakistan’s history and international politics, my respect for those behind Pakistan’s nuclear programme grows with each passing day. After the creation of Pakistan, it stands as the nation’s second greatest achievement.

It is striking how easily powerful states fabricate pretexts to humiliate and destroy weaker ones. In Pakistan’s case, the US and the wider West would hardly need much effort. One false flag, and Uncle Sam would arrive to deliver “freedom.”

The US, in fact, has never concealed its intentions. Since 9/11, Western academia and policymakers have persistently raised doubts about Pakistan’s nuclear “safety,” using it as a pressure point.

Former COAS General Kayani addressed this head-on in his unprecedented paper “Pakistan’s Perspective,” bluntly challenging President Obama. He warned that the US was deliberately fostering controlled chaos in Pakistan with the real aim of de-nuclearising it, a move he vowed would not be allowed.

Recent remarks by Biden administration Deputy NSA John Finer, expressing concern over Pakistan’s alleged ICBM ambitions, reflect the same de-nuclearisation narrative resurfacing in a new form.
