Petro Fedorchuk. 26 years old.

A platoon commander in the artillery reconnaissance unit of Ukraine’s 36th Separate Marine Brigade. A Marine the occupiers feared and called the “Black Devil.”

On the night of April 12, 2022, he tried to escape besieged Mariupol on foot. Near a river in occupied Volnovakha, his group came under enemy fire.

Petro suffered a severe concussion and could no longer move on his own.

“Go. I’ll catch up.”

He stayed behind by the river.

No one ever saw him alive again.

On June 11, his sister found a photo of Petro’s executed body on a russian Telegram channel.

He had been brutally beaten and tortured. His silver chain and bracelet were taken. Then he was executed.

His body was buried in a shallow grave.

A year later, volunteers found him in a morgue. Petro was identified by his tattoos: a wolf beneath a bloody moon and a black raven.

His body was returned in an exchange in March 2023.

On May 26, his family identified him in a morgue in Boryspil.

Petro was buried in his native Carpathian village.

On July 5, 2024, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.

He dreamed of getting married.

He was 26.

Petro Fedorchuk was barely alive when they tortured and executed him. Ordinary russians did this.

Remember that.
