A man was reportedly beaten by a group of boys in Rivers State, Nigeria, after they allegedly discovered that he is gay and that he found one of them attractive. What makes the situation even more disturbing is the allegation that they also threatened and extorted money from him.

Whatever anyone’s personal opinion about homosexuality may be, being gay or finding someone attractive does not give anyone the right to assault, threaten or extort them.

Under Nigerian law, the alleged conduct could potentially amount to offences such as assault, causing bodily harm, robbery and/or obtaining money through threats, depending on the facts and evidence. The appropriate authorities should investigate the incident and hold anyone found responsible accountable.

Let's not forget that he failed to build even one public hospital in the whole of Onitsha South throughout his tenure of eight good years as a governor.

So what makes you think he cares, or can better the health sector in this country if he assumes power?
